CyrusB is killing me in this chapter. He is frikkin adorable. I would really not like to be Detective Terry Shaw. Apart from the fact that I would not like to breathe the same air as Stefano, if anyone is defo going to be dead by the end of this series - I feel it will be Detective Terry Shaw.

Hey, I resemble that remark! I am to busy trying to catch up on my Comments so have not read others, but the above honestly seemed to jump out at me as I was going passed. I previously said that I loved VinW with one of the reasons being his sentence structure/the way he talks. That now encompasses all Were's Animal sides as CyrusB talks like that too. So cute. Also love how CyrusB seems to be moving quickly (well, quickly for CyrusB anyway) in regards to his relationship with Kap. Will we eventually get the background as to why Dirk dislikes Humans so much, or used to? It surely can't be just the 'wasteful and weaker' thing, can it? OMG. Having Yakob actually squeal was way cute. It seems so out of character for how I see him as the wise, powerful, well-balanced, knowledgeable Mentor. Neat trick Vin has re cooling water. Would be more impressive when used on beer, wine, etc. And, of course Yakob is the Head Monk. nb: just over half the number of words of that the previous l-o-n-g comment Just sayin'...

If she chooses to, he is dead meat Miss Elaine and Lei got quite a few surprises as they were fare-welling the NYSP Delegation. Lastly, is the white band on Vin just his bracelet when he goes wolfy? The one Miss Elaine gave him? I hope it is something more...but what?

Hi there. I have moved House and alot has been going on. The batteries on the hedge trimmer went flat so I have a bit of time to do some catch up. I love that Yakob will be Vin's Teacher. I also love, for some reason I'm not sure of, that Yakob is not all knowing/all seeing e.g. he didn't know about Stefano killing Vin's Folks, that Vin is Were or even Vin's name. The best part about Dirk's being a Mage is how he feels about it. Like he'd been given a Cub to nurture and develop. Who doesn't love Bear Cubs? Plus, I am looking forward to Dirk's lumbering Mage Dance However, the very best part of this chapter was near the end. The challenges are going to be awesome. Especially after the look and message Ty got from Yakob. That was so cool. Now, onto my comments for Rising In The Shadows!

So if Brad and Tom already have an apartment, then who is Antonio's Apartment for? Maybe Charlie is gay too and would love the chance to be free/express himself freely?

Nah thanks. I checked for me and only because it was mentioned in other comments. I didn't care about the date cause it didn't negate my enjoyment of the chapter. That was the point I was trying, and maybe failing, to get across. Thanks for the offer though.

Have we found a couple for the Apartment? Or maybe it will be Charlie. I definitely remember mention of the barn and carriage in Chapter 4. The whole Home is like a flower. Each petal that opens reveals something new. This Home/Flower just happens to have quite a few petals i.e. can't wait until Antonio has a further look in the safe, uncovers any other hidden treasures, etc. The date of the tractor went straight over my head. I just thought, "So Charlie can fix old vehicles". If I thought about it I guess I would have realised. Looked on google and saw that the first tractor wasn't until 1889.

I too wonder who is going to end up in the Apartment? I miss Fish and Chips with Vinegar and Mushy Peas. OMG! So yum. It was 2010 the last time I had that. When I was young we used to have piccalilli with thick slices of corned silverside and a salad of slices of raw onions with slices of tomato in vinegar and something else? The sauce for the salad was made with Highlander milk and I think vinegar? But I'm not sure about that part. Of course there would be potato mash and mixed veg as well. Another OMG! That was all so long ago now. Like last century in the 70s. Maybe the early 80s? Wow...

She also didn't seem to be too much interested in her Grandparents until they died and there was jewelry to be had, potentially. Plus, she had to keep on Antonio's good side because she still wanted to look through the House, etc. Considering how much Family they have, who says anything would have gone to her specifically anyway.

One of the first things he needs to do is tell Marlene what his Mum said about Nonna's jewels. Will hopefully stop her from snooping. Although, it is Antonio's home now. He can just tell her to stop snooping. I love the idea of an Italian Nonno and his tomatoes. Love his Parents. All those cooks in the Family. I am drooling over the idea of the food. One of the best things about this story is the Home. It is like a big huge puzzle. So much to discover, etc. Each 'surprise' is like winning a prize. I can imagine me and the 'lift'. Anyone in the Home would wonder about the giggling coming from inside the walls. The lift would need to be serviced after a week due to over-use. I hope Antonio is strong. He has been given the responsibility to maintain the Family's history, being the Home. It seems he may need to be strong against members of his extended Family? Although, they all had their chance at the place. Also, I don't understand why Pa couldn't just leave it directly to Antonio? Unless because this way, like I said, they all had their chance and turned it down. That could be a major point if any does become unhappy, etc. Maybe there is even more to find than what is in the safe? Maybe the title goes to the Occupier of the Home or the Wearer of the Ring? So grateful we get two chapters a day from you Cal. It would be too torturous to have to wait...I am very happy with shorter but more regular chapters.

This is only Chapter 2 and I am fully in. Marlene is a biarch. Antonio is way too nice. I wouldn't have cooked her a meal (Well, maybe in reality I would have because I can't cook). I would have wanted to get her out of the House ASAP.

Its good to know you are of Italian descent Cal. I love the romantic idea of Italy and Italians. I was surprised this story started so far into the future. I assumed it would be about the King's Son or Antonio's Great x4 Grandfather. I 100% agree. Antonio seems to have been the kind of Grandson who deserved the House for so many reasons. Not just because of how he cared for his Nonna and Pa, who must have loved him very VERY much. So, where are we going with this one? Everyone so far has seemed lovely...

I am assuming said Son does very well in the New Country?

Thanks Cal. I really enjoyed this one. There is always something in your stories that pulls me in...and I love it. The ending seemed abrupt. Like we never got the chance to say good-bye or something. Playing catch-up so not taking the time to read others comments made me realise how important that is to the whole reading of Gayauthors stories. Thanks, as always, Cal.

I feel so sorry for Lucinius in regards to his Father. There was always hope, until there wasn't. I am glad he has Gaius' Villa in Rome. Now they have a base there. So cute that Junius will not kill rabbits.

I love how they are all taking care of Grandfather Gaius.

Being the Son of Apollo hasn't caused him any harm it seems. In fact, it seems to be totally the opposite.

I know it is stupid, but compared to the other animals it seems so wrong to eat bear. I mean, if you're going to eat meat in the first place. Glad Grandfather made the move.

I can see his Grandfather being revitalised by being at the Villa. Everyone there cares for him alot. Not surprised that Deacon decided to stay with him after gaining his freedom. Junius will do well, what with the adults he has around him and the fact he is the only Child of the Family. Currently anyway.

Its so sad. All that beggar needed was a good wash, good food and some semblance of caring. The Villa Men/Brothers must count their blessings every day for their post-joining-the-Villa lives.

With Rabbit on the menu, they won't starve. There are so many of them. Rabbits I mean. I am glad they decided on Boys for as more Men/Brothers. They can learn/grow into their Villa-specific roles.

Everything else at the Villa is expanding, why not the Men/Brothers
