  1. Wow I finally got back to reading this! It's good writing, as always! I can't wait to know what happens next. I wonder: The whole Arcana/supernatural thing, is that based on something or is it something you made up?

    Chapter 57

A great chapter! It's funny how I would've reacted exactly the same way as Scott, when the issue with Will and Zach came up. As for Austin, it's annoying how painfully straight some people can be. I have a few friends who are kind of like that (well without pretending to be boyfriends/kissing/snuggling in bed, but with being affectionate). I so wish you could turn people gay x.x It would make my life much more enjoyable! But it is not to be. I think you wrote this part very well and I think that it would not have been as good if they would have had sex.

Thank you, Ron!The thing with words is a good point and I will have to look out for it. I actually spend some time with that word, it is, in fact, unusual. I reasoned that it would be ok to use it, Josh does look up words he doesn't know and reads a lot. I think when it comes to his own eye color, it is possible that he would look things up out of interest and come up with a special word for it. He does like his own looks, other than many other teens. Also, I did want to have him a special eye color, something that stands out in a way. But you are right, I will try to look out for things like that.

It's funny, I hadn't even thought about it that much, but when my beta read your comment, she told me she had noticed it, too. You are right though, also, I should have actually made Josh think something about whose locker it might have been. I didn't think of introducing other victims of Parker here. I guess it's something I'm learning for my next stories.

"Well, look who we've got here." Parker said in a snarky tone. "What are you doing here, Adams?" He grabbed me by my shoulders and pushed me against the wall. I felt the back of my head hit the wall and for a moment I saw stars. My clothes fell from my hands to the ground and I started shaking. His face came close to mine and I could feel his breath. "What about the money?" he hissed, while pressing me against the wall. Before anything else could happen I saw movement out of the corner of my e

    The Public Pool

It's a problem most of us have, some more some less. It's funny how there are certain things that make it easier, ways that we relate to each other... (smoking is an interesting example. If you're new somewhere, if you smoke you hardly ever stand awkwardly alone in the corner... it's a high price to pay though...) Just my thoughts... I know, the story is slow I hope the next chapter will be better Thanks a lot for your review!

Thanks a lot for your review, I'm glad you liked it! There are some really good teachers who do an amazing job, but often teachers are unable to deal with situations properly. Some might do the wrong thing (and even join in) because they never really grew up themselves, I think, but most of them simple do not know how to react properly. That is especially the case when it comes to the whole LGBT issue. Anyway! Josh is lucky, summer break is close! That was always my favorite time of the year!

    The Public Pool

I was usually a total morning grouch; therefore I was pretty surprised when I woke up around 9am in a good mood and ready to get up. I was determined to forget all the worries about my parents, Parker and his threats. I wanted to enjoy my day at the public pool. I brushed my teeth, grabbed my backpack, put in the map I printed the day before, a towel and my swimming trunks, and got down the stairs as quickly as I could without running. When I came into the kitchen I wrote a note for my parents,
  11. @Tomy: I don't think the issue was with cheating (did they even have a commitment?) or why he did that. The problem was Tony inviting Will and then fucking with others instead of with him. That does make him an asshole to me, at least in that situation. He might change though. @Alistair as Will's future mister: They had this erotic scene in the jaccuzi, right? That's one of my favorite sexual encounters of Will. I have been hoping for Alistair to play a bigger role for a long time. He would definitely be able to call Will on his BS.
  12. 1. It will definitely be interesting, however, I am positive that he will be more understanding and less of a control-freak than Brad was, other than if some major change happens to him. 2. C'mon I know you hate Zach ( )but seriously? Sending a gay kid to a Jesuit school? There ought to be better options. I'm not exactly a pro on religion, but as far as I know they are Catholics. Now I do know that they are a bit more progressive than other Catholics (aren't they?), but then again I also remember hearing some pretty bad stuff, and we have to remember this is 2001, not 2013. Correct me if I'm wrong, but none of the CAP family would EVER send one of the kids to a Catholic school. Other than when it comes to the mission, they are not exactly friendly when it comes to religion. 3. While we simply do have to agree to disagree on some issues, I can understand that. I guess I'm just a bit quicker there. However, we're yet to see if I was wrong. I might well be.
  13. I don't get the whole quoting thing working on my cell, so lets hope this makes sense without it. It has been said that Will is the one with control issues. This is an old topic, actually. Both of them have major cotrol issues, only for Will it is a problem when peoply try to control his life, while Brad is insecure and tries to gain as much control over others as he can. --------- Is the real issue really the car and asking Wally and Clara? Okay, Will did not make the best decision. However, it's not really a biggie, is it? its not like a tatoo against the parents will. If they don't like it, they can take it away. The thing that this is actually about, is that Will decided to give Zach a chance. If Zach screws up, as said here before, then he will have major consequences. Nobody else was willing to give Zach a chance. If they don't want this they can even revoke the chance Will gave him. But what I thought was good is that Will showed Zach that he was on his side. I can see that Wally and Clara want best for Zach, even if they are sometimes off. As for Gathan, he is definitely NOT a fit for his responsability and I see Brad having control issues and all here. Yes, Zach did screw up, but I don't think that anyone but Will is willing to give him a chance at all. As in, forever. It's not about the car, really, it could have been anything. I think the others will eventually drive Zach out of their lives. If I was him, even if I screwed up, I wouldn't see much reason to have anything to do with any of them. Will is the one who might be able to change that. I'm not sure if that is a good thing ot not, Zach remaining in the picture more than some might want, but I think it is a good thing that Will gave him that chance.

Well let's hope he doesn't do any of these things and that he will meet someone. While the prologue didn't say anything, the story description did give a hint to the identical/fraternal question. I'm just saying that much, if you don't like spoilers don't check it out. Thank you for your review and your thoughts, I appreciate it a lot!

Thanks a lot for the praise! I am sorry that I made eating your lunch so difficult. Thank you also for pointing out that paragraph. I am sadly not a native speaker and have never been to any English speaking country. I try my best to get everything as perfect as possible but there are failures here and there. I will look it over together with my editor. If you see more things like this, please let me know. I really appreciate if people point out mistakes.

  17. It is true that a car gives more possibilities, but do you really think they are all honestly that worried about Zach and looking at the situation fairly and clearly, and that they are not letting their personal feelings overrule fair judgement? It is true that Tonto wasn't always perfect, however, Stef did his part there, too. Tonto did react better than anyone else I can imagine would have and she quickly changed her mind and apologized. She did believe she was trying to protect Stef. It wasn't exactly a situation you got confronted with regularly back then. Sure, she was an old women and Will is just a kid, and he has yet to get there where she was, but I bet she was very similar to him in her younger years and I am pretty sure that he will eventually get there. Will's reactions and doings might not always be the best, nor the most diplomatic ones, but he usually does have a point in what he does and usually he tries to be fair more than anything else, or not?
  18. Following what you write is going to be hard. When I read the last book I already said that the language was a challenge for me sometimes. But now you add several storylines with different narrators, and I have a month to wait for each chapter? No fair LOL it totally is a challenge I'm eager to take on. It was another amazing chapter. I was totally waiting for this to happen after Shay opened the portal to Earth. This looks like it's going to be amazing! Only thing I'm missing now is Shay and Mira. You're cruel, did anyone ever tell you that? Making us wait for their appearance so long, not knowing what happened to them? Although now I assume that something similar like with Konstantin happened to them Some Mira/Shay in the next chapter pretty pretty please?

"Hey Asshole!" I tightened the grip on the strap of my backpack and walked faster. ‘Don't turn around, keep walking. It’s only a few more feet to the door and then you’ll be in the schoolyard,’ I thought to myself in panic. He grabbed me by the shoulder from behind. There was a loud clatter when I was thrown against the lockers to my left. I fell against them and slid helplessly down to the ground. When I looked up, my gaze was met by a pair of angry eyes. 'What is your problem, Parker?' I w

    Prologue

She was slowly walking through the silence of the night. The smell of smoke, beer and vomit was still lingering in her nostrils. Every now and then, a soft noise emerged from the two bundles in her arms, disrupting the quiet peace. They were so beautiful, so innocent. She had hoped that Bill would change, that he would finally turn his life around with these two little souls depending on him. He had promised it. It had lasted for two, maybe three days. Then she had come back from her cleaning j

Josh’s life leaves a lot to be desired. Between his conservative parents and being an outcast at school, he feels desperately alone. His only outlet is swimming. Running into trouble at the public pool brings major changes to his life; a new friend, a first love and a boy who looks like he just stepped out of Josh’s mirror...
  22. The discussion did get a bit heated here and there, eh? I think it's kind of funny what a big deal we are making out of this, and how people take sides. It's not like we're talking about something really big, it's just about whether it is justified if some pretty unimportant character doesn't get a car and whether it is right that Will bought him one anyway. It's one of those moments where I could strangle Brad and where I would love to tell Will 'good job'. And it does show in the forum discussion that I feel this way.. Anyway, I think that shows us one thing: Not many authors get their readers so animated about something that technically sounds like a non-issue. You are awesome Mark!
  23. Oh yes! I am doing that every other day and maybe that makes me bigoted but at least the shop is only half a mile away! Maybe that makes me bigoted, who knows. Yes, they do care about him, but they sometimes have views that conflict with the ones of the CAP family. You do have a point with Wally and Clara though. As for Brad and Gathan, it was not possible to talk about this with them. They disqualified themselves from talking about things very effectively. Also, I disagree on Will being so immature. See it from this perspective: legally, he is an adult. If Brad or Robbie or Stef had done something for Zach or his siblings they considered right, even though it was without asking Wally and Clara or asking them but ignoring what they think, nobody would complain about it. If there was complaint then we would not talk about immaturity but about lack of thought or about butting in. And actually, they did do that a lot, didn't they? Maybe Will is butting in, and yes, I guess he should at least have tried to talk to Wally and Clara about it, I do see a point there. But I think he is being judged harshly. There have been various occasions where someone of the CAP family simply ignored Wally and Clara's wishes and/or politely forced something onto them. Brad and Gathan believe that they protect Zach from trouble by not giving him a car. We do not know Wally and Clara's motives but I doubt that they are so worried about what he will do with a car. I think they are in fact worried about what it will do to Zach if he gets money shoved up his a**. However, for that NONE of the CAP family can judge Will, because pretty much all of the key players here did the same thing. Brad and Gathan are simply bigoted. Zach will get into trouble when he wants to get into trouble. You don't need a car to get in trouble, I know many people, including myself, who are the living proof for that. I honestly think that this reason is invalid. What do you think he should have done? And what do you think is Wally's and Clara's reason ? Assuming he is in fact like Tonto, and Zach's parents had said no after talking to them, for the same reason as always: the money issue, how do you think could he have done this differently?
  24. I have to disagree with this.I am pretty sure Will understands them and I am also sure that it wasn't about him not thinking about it, it was about him not caring what they think (or maybe even him deliberately pissing them, Brad, Gathan, Wally/Clara, off). I can understand him very well. Will has had major issues with other wanting to control his life and not giving him the responsibility and respect that he deserves. He sees the same thing happening to Zach, nobody giving him a chance. If I was him, I would totally do the same thing. Maybe it is not exactly mature to do what he did, but what exactly is mature in this situation? Saying 'as long as he is not 18 it is none of my business? He simply can't do this, with his own history. Trying to talk to Brad/Gathan about it? Good luck with that. No honestly, I really don't think I can judge him for buying Zach a car. I actually think it was the right thing to do. No matter if Zach proves to have changed or not. If he didn't change I would still think it was right. PS: Also, it was fun seeing everyone freak out about it :D
