    Brave Enough

I read this story a while ago, I remember it clearly and loved it then as much as I do now. A story with a soul is a rare thing to find. Well done.
  2. double one today, because chapter 28 is short, and I felt that posting this as one gives you all a bit more well deserved read
  3. Washington D.C. – November 23rd 1953 The heavy oak door of the Oval Office closed with a soft click, muffling the distant sounds of the White House. Inside, the atmosphere was a world away from the tense formality of the Cabinet Room. Here, in the quiet glow of a shaded desk lamp, President Dwight D. Eisenhower sat in a comfortable armchair, a tumbler of amber liquid in his hand. Across from him, Dottie occupied another armchair, her own glass held d
  4. i've got one coming up this year... still settling the details. My cottage has Asbestos in the roofing... so they need to tear the roof off, and I can't be here for that... so new house time.
  5. My Sam is... patient... like saintly so. Yesterday we're having dinner with his parents, and I am book babbling, like a genuine madman. His step-dad is always very amused by my... um... I am sure he thinks I am nuts... Sammy's an accountant, so... you know... the common sense of the pair of us.

    Chapter 3

That's how I saw it. No one had ever treated me with the kind of respect and profound sense of honour before that. A few have since, it's something I learned I was worth, and sought out.

    Chapter 3

I am often afraid I lack the skill to write some of these. This was one I was afraid of. To do Hugo the justice of how he pulled the magic of his easy being. But when the writing started it flowed. I remember these moments, and how they felt. And he was brave, Hugo was never the coward he thought he was.

    Chapter 3

Ties flew out of the wardrobe, a cascade of color, as Jimmy fussed. Holding one up and shaking his head, as he switched to another, trying his best to decide on how he wanted to define himself for what was his first date. What? You ask in shock. First date? But Jimmy’s been on dates before. Yeah, he has. Mostly impromptu things—burgers and walks, hanging at home, drinks down the pub. This, this was different. This was a real, honest-to-God, adult-type date, and Jimmy was going out

    Chapter 27

I love how SORR has become wide-spread usage on this site. It entertains me to no end.

Reed , Henry Reed, I will leave that there and say I like Henry. ALOT he's not a fan of Hoover.

    Chapter 27

I mean it is no secret, Hoover knew EVERYTHING going on in the White House at that era. And you are right, making a run at Cohn was probably the worst thing that could possibly have happened. His is singularly the worst possible man to 'threaten' in this way.

    Chapter 27

Sinjin probably worked it out, yes. And telling Hugo directly would have devastated Hugo at that time. Some lessons you need to wait until the student is ready to learn.

    Chapter 27

When writing, it wasn't until that exact moment that I realized what an utter bastard Pendersliegh had to have been to do that to Hugo. To willingly put another human being through that, just to escape it yourself. yeah.... I can't blame him, it would be hell for some people, but still a bastard.

    Chapter 27

So running a cursory phrase count over the Watchers, the term "Fuck Dottie" comes back a whopping 20 times. So... in the spirit of Stoker: FUCK DOTTIE

    Chapter 27

Chapter Twenty-Seven Washington D.C. – November 23rd 1953 The familiar disorienting lurch, a momentary sensation of being stretched thin across time and space, then the sudden, solid return. Wojciech blinked, the faint ticking of the Watch fading from his ears. The air, thick and cool with the scents of cigarette smoke, pine cleaner, and something earthy, was markedly different from the Static Stream.

    Chapter 2

Mike was so easy to be a friend to. He was wise, and brilliant, and as I said, I tried to date him when I was far too young to understand. And he was polite, and didn't care, just calmed my needy ass down, and got me to chill and just be his friend. He was the the man who picked me up when I was knocked down, and he fought my corner when I needed it. Mike, Mike was amazing.

    Chapter 2

I was up all night last night talking to Ryan and Wil about this project. Lost track of time listening to Wil's old albums, and laughing at our... stupidity when we were kids. Ryan and I discussed the times as well. Both giving me some perspective on all of this. I am fortunate for them, and I hope I can do them both justice in this.

    Chapter 1

It should be noted that this is part of the Ottawa Tales series of Short Stories, I will get into Ben in that series, and each of the guys in this. Now you should know that Ben... Ben took a long time. Because I was blind as a bat, and he was too quiet to make the first move. He did, however, finally get worked up enough to ... I'll tell the story in OT, I promise.

    Chapter 2

Mike was also on a full ride, he was on another level tha the rest of us. Certified genius, the smartest person I ever knew. Couldn't get a date to save his life, but he was kind, generous, and smart. I passed many of my courses because of him tutoring me in math through much of University. His parents were also old Money, but he kept things humble. Never rubbed our faces in it, just ... he taught me how to budget, he taught me how to save, and he taught me so many things I needed to learn about managing my life. I didn't always listen, but then he was patient and always stepped in when he had to to put things right.
