    Chapter 1

The night was thick and humid, clinging to the brickwork of the two-story suburban house like a second skin. To a human, the air might have felt suffocating, heavy with the oppressive heat of late July, but to Andy, it was nothing more than a canvas. It was a medium through which the scents of the living traveled, carried on a rooftop breeze that ruffled the dark, heavily pomaded hair he had painstakingly styled hours earlier. He stood at the base of the trellis, bathed in the pale, sickly glow
  2. He climbed through the wrong window. She wasn't there. Her younger brother was—and he'd been waiting. Andy is a three-hundred-year-old vampire used to being the predator. Lucas is a teenage boy who's been watching him for weeks, planning this exact moment. One kiss, and the ancient monster learns what it means to be truly consumed. The hunter becomes the hunted. The cold becomes a thousand degrees. And the Vampire is the one Enthralled.

    Chapter 37

Something I just noticed. Andrew is terrified of flying. Will gets seasick Travelling for these two must be an utter nightmare. Tom-boy holding the sick bag for Dad, while Jacob sedates his Papere BA Baracas style.
  5. I ended up cutting a chapter from this story. Duane was the one, this was tied to the information he was trying to sell, and the reason he was arrested. Unfortunately the chapter contradicted much of the plot as it was written quite early. Duane egged on a fight between Tyler and Billy... and I just felt it didn't serve the plot anymore to have them do that. (It's why you see both Tyler and Billy with cut lips, black eyes, and bruised knuckles after the arrest sequence... Artefacts of that plot point)
  6. It's all about control and legacy. The Carter boys connection holds the real value, leverage, and political capital. Their relationship, even in it's current state, is something these sharks can see, smell and will control if they can.
  7. Politics, the Law, and High level Business The same game, the same players, and the same moves. Will's education in what matters.
  8. Best part of waking up.
  9. The morning light in Robert Gable's corner office was the colour of old money—pale gold, filtered through floor-to-ceiling windows that made the city below look like a diorama of ambition. Andrew stood at the threshold, briefcase in hand, watching the senior partner arrange a series of fountain pens on his desk with the meticulous care of a surgeon preparing instruments. The office itself was a museum of power: leather-bound volumes that had never been read, photographs of Gable with politicians
  10. You know it, Tyler and Caleb have beers on the porch teasing each other endless about bad hook ups, and complaining about dudes. Like brother's do.
  11. you've been missed my friend!
  12. Actually, this was my first murder mystery... Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated. I am poking an idea, but I am nervous because, again, this one was so difficult to write. I don't know if the shorter chapter style worked. I know there were sever suggestions that they were too short at times.
  13. Thanks @drsawzall it actually is a high compliment coming from you. Thank you for reading.
  14. Well I took inspiration from Cabot Cove (Murder capital of the world)
  15. Thanks, it was honestly one of the hardest books I have ever had to write, from the... personal aspects as well as the technical difficulties of writing backwards.
  16. WEDNESDAY MORNING The memory came back in pieces. Caleb was sitting at the kitchen table in Richard's apartment. The apartment was small—a one-bedroom on the edge of town, the kind of place divorced dads rented when they were starting over. The walls were beige. The furniture was generic. But there was coffee in the pot and a box of donuts on the counter and a blanket on the couch that smelled like fabric softener instead of industrial detergent. Richard was at work. He'd w
  17. I'd never get planning permission from the local council. I had to get special permission just to move the bins from my backyard to the side of the cottage. They are... anal retentive.
  18. given the wheel chair, most I can do is stare at it.
  19. My lawn is brown... beeping hose pipe ban. Much more of this heatwave/drought and it'll be dust.
  20. Papa Will being Papa Will. But I have always felt it was Peter who was the emotional heart of the family, the one who keeps Will's feet on the floor. Like brothers are supposed to do (even self-adopted ones)
  21. Yes, I noticed that as well. Part of what makes Peter and West work so well is that they fight/bicker/tease each other. It's always been the healthiest out of all the relationships in the Carter books for it, they can fight accept each other, make up, West apologizes, Peter refuses... they fight some more... and then end up having sex in awkward spots. Peter likes the way West annoys him. Jason is too calm for that. Different dynamic, they're passionate, but in a different way.
  22. Have to give a little hope before it gets dark.
  23. small correction of the timeline, somehow in the original Jason was teleporting. Managed to correct it so that I fixed it.
  24. Peter and Jason being Peter and Jason. A bit of domesticity before Merrick gets his claws into the family
