    The wonderful thing about this particular time during the Crusade was that Raymond, in a power grab, declared all the old oaths broken, and this allowed him to take in all who wanted to join his army. This had the knock on effect that the same was true for Darien. (Tancred in history) Tam and Connor did everything they could to join the Vanguard and be safe. And once the vanguard began their march, Raymond's madness was forced to march behind. Darien is going to attract a lot more of the Crusaders that are abandoning Raymond's fanatics/are driven out.

    Daddy Darien, he does it for all of them. While Lloyd is definitely "Camp mom" and Val is the chaos Aunt. Darien's dad. All the Squires look up to him, and he spends time with each of them. Be it Ashot and teaching him to read. Julian and his guidance, or Stephan and his confidence. Heck even Wylan calls him Daddy... but that's for different reasons

    Ashot loves his Steffy, unabashedly, unreservedly, and always goes out of his way to show him with gifts and affection. Stephen is reserved, but melts under the unrelenting bombardment of Ashot's affection. He knows he's been claimed, and that Ashot isn't going anywhere.
