Hi Xander. I like having Ali off school...mostly...the problem i have this time with her having an extra three weeks off due to construction work at her school is she is going to miss three weeks of classes. When the parents asked the principal at a meeting whether the work would be made up or would they send work home for the kids to do over the holidays we were told no. The work she is doing at the moment at school is going towards her GCSEs and the grades from those decide if she gets into college or the job she wants. I am currently looking up worksheets and other school websites to find work i can set her over the next weeks.

Thank you all for all the comments, you all really helped me to tell the editor (politely) that that was how my characters were acting, and I wasn't changing them to fit her idea of ‘normal young people’. Plus it is good to know good manners are still being taught. I know I tried to drum them into Ali. Hi Page they are great. Ali will be finishing school this week for Summer. Nine weeks off, someone rescue me now Mark is working.

Hi Sweet I've got a few published. This is with a new-to-me publisher and so I'm still getting used to their procedures. In the meantime I'm ending up a bit whiny 😁

Thanks Gary Hope you're doing okay. How's the shoulder? I think my idea of old fashioned romance might be better kept to my fantasy stories. I've nearly finished these edits enough to send them back. Then I can work on something more interesting. 😁

Hi Bob Hope you're doing well today. I wish your suggestion was an option but they work for different publishers. Most of the comments this editor is making make sense and I'm grateful to them for helping me improve. But, their comments about how certain things are not how 'young people today' would act really niggle at me. Young people are not all the same. Some of them like the old fashioned romance movies, and like to be romanced themselves. Some don't want to be tied down at a young age and aren't looking for anything more than a one night stand. My point is they are all individuals. I didn't like it once when i was watching tv as a teenager and a scientist came on and said something along the lines of "Of course, all teenagers today have tried smoking and drugs at one time or another." My response was (and still is) I haven't. I do not like people who make generalisations about any group, whether it be by age/race/color/sexuality/etc. Sorry, i went off on a rant again.

Argh, someone rescue me from Edits (off site and that's why I've been so absent. I signed a new contract that I'm starting to second guess) Warning rant ahead. It is so confusing when one publisher's editor tells me off for putting details and play by play of conversations in, then another publisher's editor tells me they want all the details in because that is what makes the story and tells me off for glossing over conversations. Plus, I've got one editor that is telling me my young men are acting more like it's 1950, than 2019 because they brought gifts to their first date and do things like holding chairs/doors for each other. I'm not that far out of touch am i? I'm sure i saw a young man doing that for someone a few days ago. Surely manners haven't changed so completely since i was last dating?
