Chapter 3 Marcus had a case that needed his attention, so our Thursday chat was postponed. The case involved a gay ex-marine and custody of his son. The private investigator, Marcus hired, had collected very damaging information about the mother. Marcus needed to spend the evening writing motions. He said the information was going to allow him to finally go on the offensive for his client. We made plans for Sunday dinner, instead. Brian was true to his word and texted just a couple of times

Chapter 2 No sooner had Marcus suggested breakfast, the lights came up full force. You could see everything: the good, the bad, and the desperate. Marcus chuckled, "I told you the vultures would start to circle! Let's grab breakfast." I didn't know what he meant by vultures, until a guy walked past me and gave me a look. I wasn't sure what the look meant, but I saw desperation and maybe hunger. It was scary. I quickly followed Marcus out of the bar and to his car. We went to an all-night dine

Thanks so much for the thoughtful review! I will say that this was a short story that a friend convinced me to expand. I hope the flashbacks in the next couple of chapters work. It will take me to chapter 5 to get back to present and even then... I love the encouragement you have given me!!! It makes this so much fun for me! Your reactions have provided fuel for thought! Mike or Michael always works. But even Mikey in my youth!! Thanks again! Chapter 2 is at editor and hopefully will be out soon!

Now I can't wait for the next chapter... very interesting take on the whole Potter mythology. I usually dislike Potter stories but this one is great.

This is the first story and first post for me. I have also sent it to Nifty but as of last night not yet. Jen just had her life radically changed, she might come around someday. As for TJ...well. Thanks for the feedback. This whole experience has me very excited.

He hung up on me. I didn't understand what the hell was going on. He'd never shut me down before. In the three years since we met, Marcus had always been there when I needed him.
