    Alo Chapter 11

“I like all of those ideas, and I have already been informed by Angela and Jeremy to assist you with getting any new projects built, as fast as possible, so let’s start getting organised by finding a building company that can get building as soon as possible” Mr Hutchinson said, “That sounds good, but we will need to get some architectural plans drawn up first, I will go and see someone straight after this meeting” I added. After leaving the accountants, Angus and I walked back to motel, an

    Alo Chapter 10

Once he has gone, I need you to go down to Carnarvon, and see the accountant, and review those development plans, I will leave it up to you on what the best options are for improvements, stay a couple of days so you can get things started on planning for replacement buildings, and get another sat phone, as we will need it for a while” Jem said to me, “Ok boss that’s not a problem. This might be a good chance to get some stronger, good quality guest accommodation established if the insurance pay-

    Alo Chapter 9

When I arrived at the roadhouse, where a large number of trucks were parked, waiting for the road to reopen, there was a bit of a gathering happening on the bridge, just past the roadhouse, so I slowed right down as I approached, the bridge, stopping just short of it. About a quarter of the way down the bridge, the offending vehicle had broken down, no doubt because it tried to go through the water on the bridge at high speed, even with huge signs across the road saying that it was closed. “Well that explains the loud noise, I am amazed that it went across the building, hopefully there is no damage to the roof?” Matt commented as we walked around to the side of the building, and I put Angus down so he could go to the toilet and walk around a little. As we rounded the corner, we saw what was left of the shearing shed, a lot of the walls were missing, and the vehicles inside looked like they had been tossed around, continuing walking around towards the back of the building, we

“Where do you want us to bunk down for the night?” Matt asked me, “Oh just anywhere outside will be fine” I said seriously and both of them looked shocked at me and I burst out laughing, “You can set up camp in my guest bedroom, which is empty, just grab your beds and mattresses, and I suggest that you bring everything of your belongings, as the boss says, that the staff and guest accommodation may not last the cyclone” I added. I went to take Angus for a walk and was surprised to find cycl

    Alo Chapter 6

When we returned, Greg was waiting for me in the jeep’s passenger seat, “I have some water and morning tea” Greg announced, and I nodded my head in understanding, before going inside to grab a onelitre bottle of water and Angus’s feed and water bowl. Angus followed me back outside, and I picked him up and placed him in the back of the jeep, along with the bowl and the water, before taking the driver’s seat. “Angus doesn’t like being left behind, so I decided to bring him with us” I said to G

    Alo Chapter 5

Since he didn’t bother to close the door I stood up and closed it, before taking my seat again, just as the ‘On Hold’ music stopped, “James Nicholson here, have you arrived at the station?” I heard my boss say on the loud speaker, “I have sir, and you are on loud speaker in the conference room, with the satellite work supervisor, Hugh Carter in attendance” I responded, “I see, ok, go ahead then Lloyd” the boss said. This is when I looked directly at the work supervisor, “Mr Carter, my name i

    Alo Chapter 4

Thursday February 1st “Oh, I see, well thank you for informing me, as you may know, I didn’t get on with my folks very well, after they learnt of my sexual orientation, soon after completing high school, and they have not bothered to stay in touch with me over the past nine years. The last I heard from them, was when I was 21, and they were leaving to travel to Scotland, and they had put the farm up for long term lease” I responded. “Yes, your parents informed me of that situation, but

    Alo Chapter 3

Back in the main passageway, just 5 metres from the doors to the staffroom and store room, there is a closed door, marked “Private – No Entry”. Jeremy unlocked the door and we stepped into a furnished lounge room, leading off this is a large modern kitchen, including a pantry, and a door that leads to a utility room, with washing machine, dryer, sink, and two extra freezers. Back in the lounge room, there is another door that leads to a short hallway, with a bedroom on one side and a study

    Alo Chapter 2

Unfortunately, the reunion with my wife only lasted for eight months, when Sara announced that she had managed to get a better job, but it was in Adelaide, and that she was moving there in a week’s time. While together for the second time, our relationship was not the best, we both seemed to be more interested in our careers, and that sharing an apartment and a bed was just a benefit for both of us. I heard from Saraha few months later after the second time we separated, only to finalise th

Feeling very much alone, Lloyd lowers the urn of his wife’s ashes into the water, as the sun is setting in the Indian Ocean, on a remote Cattle Station in Western Australia. What was to be a short visit to the station, changes dramatically, and Lloyd has to deal with all the challenges of being in a remote location, including a category 5 cyclone, an Earthquake and two wildfires.

    Alo Chapter 1

It was strange being back to this spot again, after so many years of hardship personally and professionally, Sara and I had known each other since we were in high school and with all my personal battles, she still accepted me as a friend and later as her husband. Today I was saying my final farewell to her, at the place where she had proposed to me nearly nine years ago, as it was the place where she was the happiest in her life. It was a perfect way to say farewell. Sarah Carter had gone t
