    IOI Chapter 17

Just in case you didn't know, the yacht owner is one of the main characters from the New Beginnings stories.
  2. “As you know this is the start of the second week, of this 6-week season, if any crew member is having troubles with anything, I expect you to assist, as we work as a team here. The yacht’s owner, Mr Wagner, has graced us with a visit, and will be on the yacht for a week, along with two of his staff, and they boarded a short time ago. Mary and Henry, your job for the next week, is to be the butler and maidservice for Mr Wagner and nothing else, I am sure that the remaining Stewards and Deckh

    IOI Chapter 15

Yes there are some 1/2 hour time zones in the Australia region. Sydney on the East coast is 9 hours behind London, while Darwin in the centre north is 8.5 hours behind, and Perth on the West Coast is 7 hours behind. This is mainly because the Northern Territory and South Australia, want to be close to Eastern states times for business reasons. Mind you it gets more complicated when it comes to Daylight savings during the summer, when instead of three time zones, we have 5...

  5. The final three weeks of my job were very hectic, the new administrator, is a former diplomat, so well trained and experienced for the position, arriving three weeks before my departure date, and so just 4 days after arriving, I took her on the community visits to each main area of the Chagos Archipelago, and attending the community meetings. When the day finally arrived for me to leave, having spent the last week staying in one of the hotels, so as to allow the new Administrator to settle i

It is easy for you to suggest that a good editor is needed, my editor is doing his very best. The real fact is that editors are very few, and not all authors have the luxury of having one available, so please stop harping on about it.

True, but because of the shallow reefs and islands. Scattered around Diego Garcia, the job is made easier.

    IOI Chapter 3

Having lived in Darwin for seven years, I have been though a few cyclones, two of them being quite scary.
  13. When I did some more searching online, I also found a jet boat, that is 18 metres long, with seating for 38 passengers with a bottom glass viewing area, bathroom and kitchen which I thought would be perfect for tourists. Mindful that the federal government or the local government wouldn’t want to fork out 395 thousand dollars. Instead, I used all of what I had saved up and convinced my half-brother – Jeremy, to come in partnership, with a 2/3’s share, and we boat the boat, and had it shippe
  14. “You look worried Commander” the Commodore said to me as he entered the bridge, “I am sir, just wondering about US aircraft getting through, before the HMS Queen Elizabeth gets into range” I replied, “Yes, I was thinking about the same thing, as I was trying to sleep last night” the Commodore replied, and I could see he was thinking about it carefully. “The average flight range is 850 km’s, so that is 420 km’s one way, with a little space for safety. That puts it at the bottom of the Maldive

That is correct, even off the other islands in the Chagos Archipelago group, which I think is a bit extreme, considering the nearest islands to Diego Garcia are a good 80 kms away. the other interesting fact is that the us has civilian contractors that are paid below the award wage, and forced to work longer hours, and rarely get to travel home to see family

    IOI Chapter 13

Hi bushy, yes the Us have a lease on Diego Garcia, which expired recently, but I believe was renewed. Diego Garcia is the biggest island of the Chagos archipelago and in my story the Brits transferred ownership of Chagos, before the renewal was finalised, making Australia the new owners of the islands, and as such they cancelled any renewal of the US lease. There is also a long term issue regarding the original claim of the islands, with Mauritius plus the Chagos Islanders who were forced off the islands, when the US first took up the lease of Diego garcia
  23. After saying goodbye to Peter and Melinda, I quickly packed my luggage, and I was back on the transport boat, heading back to the ship, as I sadly waved goodbye. Back onboard the ship, I was allocated VIP quarters, which gave me my own cabin with bathroom, it was small but I had the cabin to myself, and as I sat in my cabin I looked around at the bare walls, which will be my home for five days, and thought back to the days when I had served onboard a number of naval ships, and as I was thinking
  24. “My name is Lewis, not Mr Lewis, and thank you, I did a degree in Asian studies, and chose Japanese as the main language to study” I replied, as I assisted them both into the Rib boat, before retrieving their luggage. “Anata wa kyuits no ryohodesu ka?” I asked after a long period of silence, after we started the journey back to the yacht. “Yes, we are on vacation for 6 months, and we heard how beautiful the Cocos Islands are, we find them very much like remote islands at home, but warmer” t
