A road Apple by any other name still smells...
  2. Dude, no one wants to push you... But we'll be gladly drive you in a loaded luxury vehicle?
  3. Delightful idea!
  4. How dare you have a real life!!! (Giggle) Seriously, just glad you are back, and hoping all is well with you and yours... (insert appropriately platonic pub bro hug here) As for comparing his mom to the ladies of the evening... I think it might be significant in your relation of Robbie's retelling that his mother referred to them fairly neutrally as working girls, and did neutral well enough that Tom had to explain it later. Folk who understand that sex work is work... well aren't probably buying into Don's asshatted view of the world. BTW, when IS Don coming out? Insecure, phibic, guys often have a reason for it... Lol... kidding... sort of...
  5. I haven't commented in a while, (because I have been falling behind in my reading...) but I am so glad to have had an evening or 2 this week to 'catch up' with my Castaway Hotel 'fix.' There is something uplifting, heartening and just kind and decent about this story...
  6. Nicola, besides recognizing that her father is a hypocritical whore is also who watched Robbie almost die on front of her on the stairwell... figured out he was gay, and loved him enough to protect him from the 'rents as long as she could. Further, since she knows she can only count on her parents for very few things, bas surrounded herself with the types of friends (Naomi?) that she knows what she can count on them for...and thus whom she learned about sexual assault. Alex isn't probably going to turn out to be as evil as we think. He has had, or is having a psychotic break due to the constant biforcation of his personality, loss of his relationship with his older brother and the physical (and who knows maybe sexual!) Abuse from his father, and the stress of managing his youngsr brother combined with potential drug use is a recipe for another type of mental health disaster. At the time of the assault Alex truly believed that Robbie was his... and as that has come to an end... he is acting more and more irrationally as he realizes how alone he is. Robbie was the only person who truly cared about him.
  7. She needs to find herself a brutal divorce lawyer and a hot, liberal wealthy doctor.
  8. Yeah, what Domden said!
  9. The reason you are not surprised is he's a Don Juan.... in the Freudian sense of the word...
  10. What is a cockwombie?
  11. Yes! (Nice choice, Dodger!) The guy was dressed as a gorilla! Am I the only guy who has a Harry Hamlin (LA Law) ahem.. fetish? Oops sorry... lol sorry could not resist! Besides... Conner can ground him, whereas Nathan might unintentionally (?) create more drama... As for Alex... wouldn't it be a hoot if Sue managed to domesticate him a bit? Guys in my life, like him really don't know how to react to a caring person other than protecting him/her from the evil they know the world is/can be. And they can be really protective and genuinely loyal in their own way. I realize he doesn't understand consent well, but who would he have learned it from?!? Yes, Alex can wreak havoc, but aimed correctly at Donnie, (ie where were your church friends when I needed them?) You were there BEFORE you ever started hanging out with the crazy molester guy... what do you need this type of church for? You are already better than they are!?! Which admittedly is not a high bar... but hey... lol... Mr. Lube, is worrisome... and I see Alex kicking his ass... but maybe I am wrong...
  12. Conner is much more courageous, bold and funny than everyone is giving him credit for! Hello! He attended the party to meet his would be date in a gorilla costume! Now THAT is a fashion statement! On top of this, did we notice that his twin sister had the wisdom to choose the cute metrosexual boy who will treat her with adoration and respect!? Conner has chops!
  13. Wow! Best thing so far this year!!! Thank you so much for continuing the story, and for having such a delightful way about storytelling... I can't say how happy I am to have read all of these chapters, and books. What an awesome late Christmas present to the world!
  14. Ok... so here's a thought about the dream... could the guy in it be Mr.Andrews or a brother of his... Remember Mr. A knew Robbie's mom... and as a principal of a pretty large school... he seems to keep track of our hero just a little more than a casually interested friend. Also... could some one explain to me how old retired social worker dude with the messed up garden has kept track of our hero? Maybe he's the dad or granddad or??? Lol (hey, my husband is 20 years older than I am... lol it could happen! Great work as always!
  15. Perhaps Alex can be the center of your next story... he is very interesting...
  16. However you are, you are delightful! And so completely correct, about Robbie and surprises... Not only has he had the emotional trauma from the events you described, but the traumatic brain iinjury from the stairwell incident... and having had a vouple friends and students who have dealt with that I can tell you also can contrubute to being more easily overwhelmed by emotional sotuations, and decidion making surrounding that!
  17. Perhaps they can be bruised but better, happier people... what growth with pain? Tom still loves the guy... feelings like that DON'T die... Hell why not rename this, "Everyone (except Don) loves Robbie?" Even Fran still has a soft spot for our hero... Besides their young, ill friend from the hospital will be on the road trip, perhaps he can provide older than his years, perspective on how much they all have in common and how love cannot be divided, only multiplied... and wouldn't he be a good influence on Alex? Just sayin...
  18. But, Ginny???? Dude... no!!!
  19. Well, of course they do! Daniel has been a reasonably solid citizen in his care for both of his bros... but maybe helping him to meet a nice gal... or even helping him tame Naomi... because having watched what happens when a previously insufferable witch is shown unyielding love from a calm steady other who won't be cowed by the bluster, bs and gossip... miraculous transformations can occur! Besides, Naomi didn't harrass Robbie... or Nathan, she merely revelled in having the 'scoop.' (She IS bosom buddies eith Nicola, and I mean that in the most Jerry Herman way!) My bet is she could tamed by a strong passionate unwaivering, kind Canadian guy... What is it about Canadian men anyway??? They are kind and decent and so smolderingly hot... and the hockey does this amazing stuff to their leg muscles... (fanning self) (I married a Norwegian Bachelor no longer bachelor, orifinally from near Lake of the Woods... about an hour southish of Winnepeg, but on the US side... it was as close as I could get!!! LOL! But he is amazing... as is that part of the world ..) ok.. sorry tmi... but Daniel has the right stuffhe has real confidence and real compassion... gotta love that in a straight guy!...
  20. How did I miss this comment... ah the joys of cell phone trchnology. Apologies to Mogwhy and Droughtquake for not acknowleging their astute contributions to this line of comment.

  22. Why do I have this feeling that someone has some experince with this in real life? ( It's rhetorical, please don't feel like I am actually gauche enough to expect such discussion to occur...) My concern is that that Don is a functioning alcoholic Roy Cohn type ("I'm not gay, I just like having sex with men, and denigrating other men who are Nancy enough to call themselves gay.") Who sees adoption far less as a way to love and care for Robbie, but as a way to sreal the money his mother left him and the equity in the flat she had in London to use to support his profligate lifestyle, or to control and torture Robbie, or both. Maybe Don should take an accidental trip over the falls... Besides, wouldn't it be neat if Robbie gets to the proceding and spills his guts in front of an empathic judge who delays things and protects Robbie's interests better? Or maybe, because Robbie seems tp be having residual effects from his TBI, and becomes ill at severe emotional stress, and Nicola susses it all out and in 'a speak now or forever hold your piece, moment busts Don and Sue in front of the judge.' She's smart enough... and after watching Robbie almost die in front of her, could have a heightened state of protectiveness over her cousin... because she clearly has NO problem with him being with Nathan. Wouldn't that be a kick on the pants... As it is now, when Robbie gets adopted, Don and Sue get control over his assets... that might be a Rory question to plant in Robbie's head... You and I have been around too many gay lambs who have been sacrificed (too often literally) on the altar of traditional suburban family values... maybe someone sees this and can prevent some of that unneeded misery elsewhere. Maybe his diner friend can intercede on his behalf? I am sure whatever you have planned will be brilliant, as usual!

    My Daniel

Thank you for sharing this delightful, loving person with us. Telling the world from the mountaintops of our joy at finding the mate to our souls is something that many have done and will continue to do. That is good and right. But you take this an extraordinary step further, by using your work and this entry to remind us that though our lives may be fleeting, and our anguish and our griefs may be deep, only love is truly eternal and everlasting. Daniel and your love for each other is eternally beautiful, tangible and deeply real to me--and I have never met either of you. That is a great service i feel you have done and continue to do. Many of us need this type of encouragement... To quote the score of Once, on This Island in its finale..."Why We Tell the Story" "So I hope that you will tell this tale tomorrow, it will help your heart remember and believe; it will help you feel the anger and the sorrow, and forgive... our lives become the stories that we weave...." Much continued joy to you in the hard earned knowledge that true love can cross the earth, withstand the storm and survive, even death. Thank you for encouraging me. I hope I have encouraged you even slightly...
  24. I know I am late to this, but am home with bronchitis & laryngitis and needed an enjoyable read to break in my new eyeglasses with! This is so promising and well written as are all of the other things of yours I have gotten to read ! Thank you!!!!
