Yes, things are starting to wrap up, but there is still more to go--Tareth and Kye's talk, a confrontation with Barrett, as well as Ash and Kye's relationship developing a bit more.

There's still a few loose ends to wrap up--Barrett, for one, but Kye definitely wouldn't be content to just sit around, not after all the sitting at Barrett's he's done. Ash would make sure he knows how to read, and both Ash and Tareth will help him find new interests. There's probably about 5-6 more chapters at least, and I'm thinking maybe an epilogue from Ash's POV.

Yes, this is the start of Kye's 'unwinding' and letting go of the training instilled in him by Barrett. Ash has already started to break through that, but there's still more to go. Tareth and Kye have their big talk next chapter!

I know everyone was waiting for the Count's arrival. Actually, I had originally written in earlier, but changed my mind. I think I works better here, after Ash has already accepted and cares for Kye. I didn't want it to seem like his mind changed after he found out from his brother what Kye had done. This way it just makes Ash love him even more. Kye'll find out exactly what room he's in soon! Glad you enjoyed this chapter!

I think Kye's had slips of moments where he's beginning to believe what Ashton has been saying--that it wasn't his fault. But as you've said, he's been told that for so long, it will take a while to truly believe it.

Yes, finally it's out, and Ashton is probably the only one who can really get through to Kye right now. Tareth can help, but Kye is probably less likely to accept outright what Tareth says is the truth, and isn't just saying it to make him feel better because he's his brother.
