You're right, there still is a lot Kye and Tareth will have to deal with once they finally have a chance to sit down and talk. Currently, Kye probably doesn't even realize he now has a new home at the Sterling estate. It hasn't even occurred to him yet.

Hehe, oh, I haven't exactly decided what to do with dear old dad yet... but you know it probably won't be good. Oh, Tareth and Ash will definitely have some words when they discover the truth depth of Barrett's abuse on Kye.

We'll find out in a few chapters what happened with Kye's parents and why Tareth didn't know where/how to find him once they have a chance to talk. And you're right about how Kye sees things--as his fault. He's been made to believe he's worthless, weak so he doesn't think he can make a difference. He doesn't see that he's already saved Rowland.

Kye does want to be with and talk to his brother, but he's also dreading it since he thinks Tareth will hate him after he knows what Kye's been made to do. And Kye does have a little fascination with Ashton, plus he feels guilty about what happened to Rowland, so helping to catch Lee is important to him (as well as protecting Tareth, who might have been riding with him).

Tareth is the only one Ashton can trust until he ferrets out "Lee". It will be a little bit before Tareth and Kye can have a real talk, where Kye will find out about his parents finally.

I figured you all might notice that play on his name. Kye really does need some downtime from the whirlwind of the day, but he's not going to get it yet, even if things are looking up for him.

That is exactly what needs to happen, drawing out the spy. While he is reunited with his brother, getting time to talk is still going to be an issue.

Why a cliffhanger? Because I'm the cliffy queen! Ashton has been very standoffish with Kye so far, partly because he's been worried about his brother, but also because Kye has been very closed off and he's unsure of Kye's loyalties yet. Next chapter a lot more will come to light.

Parker (my awesome beta) is the one to thank for the 'period' curses. He's amazing at picking out where I've let more modern terms slip in. I'm sure everyone was waiting for Tareth to show up And, you're right, things are looking a little better for Kye. It's just going to take a while for him to realize it.

Sorry about the delay. Last Thursday I realized I hadn't sent the next chapters to Parker and Caz for review and I was heading out of town for a state gymnastics meet. Fortunately, my beta and editor are so AWESOME they were able to get it back to me pretty quickly. I just didn't have internet to post it. I'm so glad you are enjoying it. I'll try very hard not to do that to you again!
