  1. I doubt Scar and Dimitri have any compunction about blasting LA or NYC. They've already vaporized Toowoomba and enjoyed the pretty fireball; what fond attachment do they have for American cities?
  2. A Class By Himself, Chapter 15 has been released.
  3. Most geeks I know, like engineers, tend to make things more complicated than they actually are. Not complaining about certain professions; if it weren't for geeks and engineers, we wouldn't have computers.
  4. CJ knows the correct spelling; the biker must be from Texas.
  5. Great chapter, CJ. The Air Force is on top of things. It will be interesting to see if Dimitri can be identified and apprehended. At the risk of appearing immodest (or breaking my arm by patting myself on the back), I feel compelled to point out the following: If I'm beginning to think like CJ, I'm creeping myself out.
  6. Chapter 41 of Let the Music Play has been posted.
  7. Thanks for swearing off long gaps between posting chapters. Also, thanks for spelling "y'all" correctly. Finding a good, logical stopping point sounds good; it probably makes it more difficult for the writer to accomplish, but would be appreciated. However, please do not stop posting one story at a big old billy goat cliffhanger.
  8. I'm just glad sex isn't as complicated as computers are.
  9. The difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.
  10. Chevo means "goat"? I thought Spanish for goat was "cabra". French for goat is "ch
  11. Climactic finales are good. I don't know of anyone who prefers a premature climax. Disputed Authority. Hmm...I see General Bradson having a turf battle with the local Barney.
  12. You are correct. It was the members of Instinct that Joe told about Jerry being an arms dealer. Further, the meeting with the customs agent ended up being postponed after the news arrived from Australia.
  13. If government agencies are coordinating their inquiries, they have quite enough. Remember Joe's interview with the customs agent; they should suspect Jerry as an arms dealer. Combine that with Instinct's information given to the Air Force. That should be enough.
  14. Looks like they had to go back to the SUV not only to get their weapons, but also to drive around to a different location to launch the assault since the road was blocked. Good chapter, CJ! Plenty of action for even the most jaded of readers.
  15. C James has released Chapter 40 of Let the Music Play. May the best goose win!
  16. Ugh! Another goose. What can CJ do with a goose that he hasn't already done? Could a hapless goose become a hero in Chapter 40? Maybe strike back at Mario or Dimitri for their shameless use of its Canadian brother? From Wikipedia:
  17. There are an awful lot of words in the English language. Most dictionaries, printed or electronic, will omit many words that are not in most peoples' vocabularies. This is true even of those not considered abridged. Most of the alternate spellings you listed are those used by the British and are not likely to be in American dictionaries. I suppose the only significant test is whether or not your reader understands what you meant. The military's discovery of the fact that someone deliberately tried to kill Instinct and make it appear to be an accident should give them a clue. If General Bradson is flying to Telluride, perhaps he will bring a contingent of MPs with him.
  18. I think Brandon is the one real hero in the story thus far. Surely not. I'm looking for one of the band members to be a hero...perhaps Brandon again.
  19. Steve, I don't think report and rapport are either homonyms or homophones. They are neither spelled nor pronounced they same. Report has a short "e" sound in the first syllable and a pronounced "t" at the end. Rapport is one of those pesky French words and has a short "a" sound in the first syllable and a silent "t" at the end. A 12 gauge shotgun may produce a report when fired. A shooting enthusiast may develop a rapport with his shotgun.
  20. I don't know that it actually is a polarizing issue in the South. I very rarely see "y'all" in writing; have already seen it more in this forum than anywhere else. BTW, try typing both "y'all" and "ya'll" in a response in this forum and see which one is underlined as an incorrect spelling. The rule as I remember it is that the apostrophe takes the place of the missing letter(s) in a contraction. Therefore, the proper contraction of "you all" is "y'all". Not that we are necessarily talking about proper English. Anyone ever hear the Queen say "y'all"? Cheerio, y'all.
  21. Let's remember that Scar also anticipates receiving half the gold in Fort Knox. He'll probably hold onto his trump cards (the bombs hidden in the US) until he collects payment in full.
  22. Y'all is spelled various ways: Y'all From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: I usually spell it "y'all" (though I rarely write it) and I am from Tennessee. Texans who are up on their state history know that many early "Texicans" came from Tennessee (Houston, Crockett, etc.) and the vernacular is very similar. Several times when I traveled to New York, Boston or Philadelphia, locals have assumed I was from Texas or out west. BTW, for those who don't know, many people use "y'all" as a singular pronoun (at odds with the Wikipedia entry); the plural is "all y'all".
