I understand.
BLs met something I personally felt lacking in Western media.
I always say you may need the right sensibilities to get into them.
Even somewhat having these, I still struggled a lot with certain elements, many of which they are moving past.
But some things they just can’t seem to let go of, especially among the fandom.
The series does not treat suicide lightly, and it is a very heavy and serious topic. It’s unique among Thai BLs because of this topic.
And I understand, I had a hard time getting through the first episode when I watched it.
The main characters are reincarnations of the people who committed suicide, it’s a fantasy story.
And Thai BL puts all the disclaimers they can on every BL series that the subject matter is not meant for younger audiences. Just as the tv or movies get rated in other countries.
This series does not romanticize or validate suicide in any way.
In fact the Buddhist belief in karma is heavily emphasized in this series, the actions of the two main characters (good or bad) in ending their lives as they do, in some ways negatively impacts their reborn selves.
