    Chapter 1

You're so sweet. I don't know if I'll ever be free of doubt, though. I've had some duds in the past, too. Maybe I'll post one of those later today? I haven't been particularly inspired to write historical fiction in the past, but if the challenges keep coming I'll keep writing for it. Thank you for the review.

    The Bearded Bromance

Dammit! I don't know how I missed responding to this, Drew! I'm sorry. Oh, I was so happy with that scene in the hallway between Logan, Maggie, and Seth. I brought back some experiences from my high school days which were similar, and it definitely made my day. Oh, the sexual tension between these two "straight" boys is fantastic. I loved writing it. Thank you for the review, spawnling.
  3. I try to keep everything twisting if I can. It's the kind of story I enjoy, and so when I write I try to match it. Trust is a recurring theme in this story. Perhaps that's the symbolism of Micah as a character? He, as a shapeshifter, is the hardest one for others to trust, and yet HE is the one who is the least trusting of all of them... I hadn't thought of it that way before. Thank you for your review.

    Episode 3 - Memory

Oh, Jacob's not so difficult for me to write, actually. He's sort of my inner child in a lot of ways, and I find any section where i use him to flow particularly easily. If you come across a chapter where Jacob is central, expect it to be one of my favorites, because he wants to be on the page. Thank you for the review, and I'm glad you're still reading.
  5. Oh yes, Tristan is definitely blindly moving forward, going with the ones who appear to be helping him, even though he is so shocked about what's going on he can't be certain which direction is teh right one. I'm glad you enjoyed the second chapter, and thank you for the review.
  6. MGK! Welcome to the story, and thank you for the review. One of Kurt Vonnegut's 8 rules of writing is to be sadistic to your characters. You have to make horrible things happen to them so they can prove what they're made of as they fight their way through tragedy. Sometimes that tragedy is physical, sometimes emotional, but you must create conflict somehow, or you don't have a story. I held that idea in my mind as I approached this story, and Tristan bore the brunt of it. One of the meanings behind the title and the symbolism of the phoenix is that Tristan is to rise from the ashes of the fate he's suffered and become a new man because of it. Stronger, and ready to take on his enemies.
  7. Nevala is one of the characters I wrote to be tragic. He's almost like a reformed criminal, which means I know people will have a hard time forgiving him for what he's done, but he really is a good guy, now. They certainly are in a tricky situation though, aren't they? Thank you for the review.

    Episode 6 - Home

Without Nevala they would have been forced to rely on Kurt's knowledge of ghosts to find a way to return Jacob to his previous incarnation, which would have taken extensive research. Kurt, of course, would have taken it upon himself to make it happen, but it would have taken a long time. Nevala, being trained as a shaman, already had the skill set. Hayden can be volatile at times, especially when it has to do with something happening to Luke. But, he's also a good guy, and when he learns he's wrong about something he definitely feels bad about it. As for Nevala and Ethan... Thanks for the review.

    Episode 5 - Survival

Kurt and Jacob truly are one of the perfect couples in the story. They're the oldest characters, originating from my story "Oak Shadows", and I loved turning them into the veterans. But all those years of working together certainly makes it difficult to imagine how one would survive without the other. Thank you for the review.

    Chapter 9 - Courage

Oh, there's plenty more where that came from, I assure you. The good thing about this story is that it's complete, so you'll only have to wait a few days for the next installment. Lots of information coming at you in the near future. I'm glad you like the action and the torsion. I certainly try to make it enjoyable. I just wish it happened more often than it didn't. Oh, and my Halloween story which will release late tonight or sometime tomorrow appreciates the Celtic reference. Thank you for the review.
  11. Intrigue is certainly what I strive for. I like to think it's where I excel as a writer, since I don't have the confidence to say I excel at anything else in the craft. Expect more questions before you get many answers, and expect the answers to continue to lead to questions. I want to keep you curious, and hopefully that will happen here. I look forward to your return, tim. Thank you for the review.
  12. Edward was limping, and his right eye was killing him, but he shuffled his way back to the country home a short way out of Biloxi. Even though the last person he wanted to face was Auntie Anne, there was also nowhere else to go if he wanted help with his injuries. She would take care of him, and then she would give him an earful, and he had to hope that would be the end of it. Before he even made it to the front porch he could hear her. Edward's cousin Charles had likely already returned wi
  13. In 1720, Jack Rackham, also known as Calico Jack, was hanged for piracy. He left behind a son in Cuba, and a pregnant wife, Anne Bonny. The exact fate of Jack's son and wife remains unknown. The 1700's was a chaotic time for the Caribbean, but sometime in the middle of the century the Legend of Calico Jack resurfaced again.
  14. I've been asked to scout for two of the sites I post at, so I would appreciate the PM, sure.
  15. I suppose being the "sex-willing asexual" that I am, my particular situation affects me less than it would others, so maybe I can't relate here. What I will say is that sex is definitely not the only thing in life, and there is a lot of fulfillment to be found elsewhere. There's no need to let lack of sex run one's life.
  16. Awesomedude is my internet hometown, and if he's as good as you said then he's going to be welcome there. Am I missing the link to this story so we can read it for ourselves?
  17. Nope, but I am considering going to the mountains for Samhain and lighting a bonfire in a secluded firepit I know of... The person below me is enthralled by the notion of dancing naked around a fire. PS. We're on page 69. Woot woot!
  18. Thanks, MGK. I appreciate that, and look forward to your reviews once you get a chance to post them.
  19. I don't know about 'need', but I'd welcome one. The person below me remembers birthdays easily. I'm sorry, was my last answer depressing? I've considered myself a ghost for along time, and never seen it as negative.
  20. Every time I look in the mirror. The person below me believes in monsters.
  21. Hopefully the next few chapters will read as smoothly. I hadn't remembered making it so long! Tristan is certainly feeling the pain of losing Zach as well, now more so than ever before. Before, he had hope, but now he feels as you do, that Zach is gone for good. But now Micah and Tristan have the ability to empathize with each other. Both have suffered loss, and both have opened old wounds. They've both had different reactions to losing the people they care about, of course, but it can help bind them together. This is the part in the story where I really started to care about Micah, and he became like the second protagonist. Indrus is definitely to blame. Thanks for the review.
  22. Changing the bandage was easy, but thinking was not. Peter went through the process mechanically, avoiding Hayden’s eyes as much as he could. With the technology in the medical bay, Hayden had been recovering very quickly, and it was only a matter of time before he’d be walking normally. Ethan had recovered completely a couple days before, and Micah was already up to full health. Soon there would be no need for Peter’s skills, and they’d all be back to their normal lives. Soon. The word reve

    Episode 3 - Memory

I don't think Tristan would mind you feeling sad for him, though he himself might still question it. He's used to the rough life, though now that he's lost his brothers, the rough life is a whole lot rougher. The bed is really a small comfort against the nightmares you observed would be there. Thank you for the review. The next chapter is a long one.
  24. I've been told that this chapter overloads people, but I suppose you live and you learn with writing. There is certainly a lot going on, but most of it will be explained later on. I tried to build this as an eclectic group of individuals who ended up together out of circumstance more than anything else. There will be plenty of background revealed in the future, so I think you'll be satisfied. At least, I hope you will be. Thank you for the review!
