Loved the back story on how Robbie and Daniel became friends. I can completely relate to that, as I have a similar friend in my past that comes from that scenario! Good chapter, looking forward to reading the rest.

The lyrics already exist, but I'm afraid you'll have to be patient. I would assume that White-Chocolate Antifreeze is alt rock, judging from the image I have of them in my mind. If you want more, you have two options... wait until Saturday or read some of my other work. Well, really you can do whatever you want, but I appreciate your review, as always.

That's why I think it's so important to be kind to everyone. Why we need to smile at people and care for them, instead of considering them to be just a uniform, just a number, just a statistic; we need to remember that they're people. Brady exemplifies that thought process, and I think the rest of the band isn't far behind.

I think it all has merit, and I appreciate you sharing your insights with us. When I wrote the scene I wasn't thinking of all of that, I was just trying to put myself in Silas' shoes and react as he would react. I didn't delve into his psychology or anything; I just tried to become him. It's the way writing works for me. The fact that it seems to work blows me away every time, especially when I receive all of this depth from my readers who can analyze the situation from the outside and show the 'why' of his actions. I think all three points are useful to understanding the situation, and that even number one by itself would be enough for me to tell Jenny to go screw herself.

Silas Drake is experienced in many ways. He's been through so much in such a short time that when facing a situation that could impact his survival he ramps up to a higher level. It's practically instinctual now. And I'll survive without the likes. I may be addicted but it's the thought that counts, haha!

I love the breakdown! Very insightful and I'd say Silas' needs are right on the money. It's funny how I didn't plan any of that, but it just comes out in his character... I love the way you learn things about your own writing from what others see in it.

Well, to be honest I know nothing about dogs, haha! As a writer I do the best I can with the knowledge I have to make it work, but that doesn't mean I always get it right, unfortunately. Oh the Mormon church... such a sad place. I wish I knew why they were so adamant about homosexuality being a sin, but they were once an extremely racist institution as well. They didn't allow people with darker skin into their priesthood before the seventies, and only did so after the world practically forced them to socially. I bet it's only a matter of time before the political monstrosity that is the church will decide that they've "had a revelation from god" that homosexuality is no longer a sin. After all, they have to keep making money.

I like to think that Jenny reacted that way from both the surname and the similarity in appearance, but that she didn't want to jump to conclusions before Ian saw Drake for himself.

Oh, you'll find out just how good it is soon enough. I was inspired for this scene by a certain music video from one of my favorite bands, 30 Seconds to Mars. In their video for Closer to the Edge they have moments where they switch to their fans and let them talk about the power of music. You know what? I'll just add a link to the video on the forum.

One of my beta readers said something similar when he reached this point.

This is about a universal coming out and not just coming out as gay.

Don't we all. But I will neither confirm nor deny that the band and Silas will get back together. A lot can happen in the story to come.

White-Chocolate Antifreeze is probably my favorite. Fowl City was a modification of Owl City, and The Demons of the Crossroads I saw as the four directions.

I like what drpaladin had to say on this over at the forum for The Navigator. "Silas is very resourceful and self sufficient because he was forced to be. That has the tendency to imagine that he has more emotional maturity than he actually has. In some ways he is still that eight year old boy that was abandoned by his closest family member with no explanation. Remember that he was given no explanation until he was twelve. He is emotionally stunted. Was what he did to Jenny cruel and extreme? Well yeah. That is a defense mechanism to push people away. I'm sure he's used it before. It's his nuke. He has had no one trustworthy to talk to and rationalize what has happened in his life in a fully open way." In many ways I think Chelsea is the right person to balance out Silas, but I am biased. They're both my children.

Well, I think we all know here that words have power, right? Surprises in store for Silas and the gang.

Silas is a survivor, and he'll always do what it takes to survive. But if he isn't feeling threatened he's generally quite amiable. I thought CHelsea was the perfect match for him, because she's always looking out for others and that's about as nonthreatening as someone can be.
