It's a good question. Some people are so self-centered that they think they want their share, even thought they have no right to any of it. Forget your brothers, concentrate the on being happy with what you have and who you are with. There was a saying, put your grievances on the wind and let the wind take it away so it'll never come again. It is hard to let the past go, I know, but you have a lot to live for and I'm sure many good friends. I'm glad you read my stories, so keep doing that. 🤗 PS-I have broad shoulders

Then you know all about Marlene. Maybe I should have used your aunt as a model for Marlene 😀

I was lying in my old bed thinking about what happened today. I have the house where I spent a fair bit of my childhood. “Thanks, Nonna and Pa,” saying that I felt the love they showed me while they were alive. I swore to myself that I would honor their trust by maintaining the house and lifestyle that existed when they were alive. For me, that meant keeping the gardens, including the grapevines, and driving Pa’s car. I wanted to feel their presence. With those thoughts, I fell into a

I have only eaten bear one time. The meat is high in fat. If you are interested in how I cooked it, send me a note. A lot of people who hunt do hunt bear, even today. Except for the animals that had more value for their products, i.e. milk, eggs, fleece, meat was scarce. So a hunting party would augment their protein intake with wild meat. Any animal that didn't produce a product that had value, was eaten. The Romans ate some strange things, bird tongues for example.

Yes, Gaius is among friends. Old people like to be around the young. Their enthusiasm, the young people, enverates old people. True today as well as then. The boys/men on the Villa accepted Gaius as their grandfather as well. Gaius was treated better than Caesar by these boys. He was waited upon bette3r than any slave would or could. Gaius treated his slaves well but within the code of the City. My guess is that his barracks had comfortable beds and was clean.
-
They did. As they past the statue of Apollo, they offered their prayers of thankfulness for landing on the Villa. As Luciius worshipped Apollo so did the boys/men
-
I would love to be one of the boys/men. Lucinius treated them with respect. Something they never expected. Can you imagine the dismal future these boys/men had when they were part of the men going to the slave auction. Then they ended up on the Villa. That must have been a happy place. smiles all around. The original boys have already proven themselves and they would want to share that with others who found themselves in the same boat. I say good for Lucinius, he has created an army without knowing it.
-
I believe you will find they will expand as well. Once the original boys became men, i.e. reached the age of 16, they realized that they needed more workers as the Villa grew and became more productive. So be on the look out for more boys from slavers entering the City

When Lucinius was living at home, he visited thee Senate as a viewer of their deliberations. He was well liked and had friends. Lucinius was smart enough to know that he could not change the way society looked upon slaves. But he also knew he couldn't leave his beloved Villa
-
These boys had a dismal future until Lucinius freed them. How would you feel? I would be so grateful to be with Lucinius, I would do anything he asked and I would do it the best way I could. Slavery was an accepted way of life. But the owner determined his/her life. Killing a slave was like killing an animal for food, no punishment. In fact a horse had a better life than a slave of Appias's
-
It isn't. It was an accepted practice to leave one's property to the eldest son. Lucinius didn't want to live in the City. You will see later what did really happened
-
nothing goes to waste. Chickens will eat anything. I wonder if their eggs had an olive taste to it. In fact and of the animals that eat the last of the olives would their milk have an olive taste
-
Lucinius is a just man. The baker accepted his price which was slightly lower than the price the vender was selling. It is Lucib its nature to treat people fairly. The baker accepted his price and so he became not only a business associate but also a friend
-
Apollo has looked upon Lucinius with favor, as the saying goes. Lucinius is a student of Apollo. Growing up spending time in the Temple he was taught by the priest.
-
Lucinius and Grandfather Gaius are very close. Growing up Gaius was a father substitute for Lucinius.
-
Have you ever had a strange pet, although rabbits are a strange animal they are a strange pet. No loyalty from them. Of all the animals,. Junius took the the rabbits. I wonder why, maybe they are small and don't seem as dangerous.
-
You are welcome, friend. I try and add some depth through the comments.
-
You would love living with Lucinius. One thing about the Romans, they were clean freaks. Hot baths and then a cold dunk each day.
-
You are right. Mars, the god of war is Aries in Greece mythology. Appolo is the only one wit the same name. Good, pat yourself on the back and be sure Apollo is smiling on you.
-
It was very popular, it was used as soap, it was used in lamps, it was used in cooking and was used in eating. The crushed pulp was served to the animals. Today, to the best of my knowledge, it is used primarily in the kitchen, cook with it and used in salads.

Duccius walks a fine line. But he is his own man.
-
There are slaves and there are slaves, Gaius's slaves are not beatened,. Appias slaves are beaten. Lucinius proved that under the right conditions, he is able to accomplish more than his father. In all fairness, Lucinius started with very young boys, 12 to 14 years old.
-
I look forward to your comments. I will teach you how to make salami and sausage, Italian style if you are interested. 😉
-
Appias is a bigot. If you are not Army material you aren't worth his time \

Lucinius does sell his fruit and vegetables out of his cart, and does very well. He isn't into sales, he is a farmer at heart who believes that a free man will work harder than a slave if that person is respected and share in the rewards of his hard work. Bulk items like wheat and oats, he sells at a price slightly lower then the venders. Why occupy a booth to sell at a bag here and a bag there. Barter for price, the baker buys it at Lucinius's price. Bulk sales Lucinius doesn't like Rome, it's his father's realm
