Colin's mom has been a blessing to Armand. We do know that Armand's bank account is healthy, remember when he adopted Richie, they wanted to make sure he didn't need Richie's money. The fact that he had to ask his banker for the amounts, indicates he doesn't watche his bank account or check the stock market daily.

I guess these apartments would qualify for grandfathering as the building is old. With a stairs and a fire escape, I doubt there would be room for an exterior elevator.
-
The grandfather is being paid and James stops there twice a day, in the morning, unless Ivan stays over with the boys, and at lunch when he drops off a lunch for grandfather and when he goes to pick up the boys after school. I think Colin keeps an eye on him as well.
-
That is a possibility with the ADA. Although the number of apartments are small.
-
I like to think Armand isn't a type of person who only thinks in terms of money. Having Mom handle that aspects of the gallery's business is a blessing for Armand.

James came home a little later than expected. “I followed Ivan as you requested.” James had tears in his eyes. “I followed him to a shack at the city dump. There was an old man, who met him as he arrived. I saw him hand the two extra lunches to the man. He went into the shack and came out about 20 minutes later dressed in what looked like rags. He and the old man, went and started going through the garbage.” By this time James was openly crying. “It’s okay James, Colin and I will help this

The house in Italy was occupied by a woman who was in poor health. Armand and Colin, bought it, the villagers renovated it. I'm not sure what is going to happen if Tony decided to move or if he doesn't.
-
You never know how the mind of an Italian works. I could never figure out my family
-
Tony will have to make a big decision. He left the village angry, will he go back angry?
-
Ivan would be okay, he would occupy the top bunk. He would miss his grandfather. I agree that her desire to have Tony move back is more her wish as she misses Marie. If Tony does decide to move he will find out it is more work than he is willing to do. Will see if she is successful or not. Place your bets ladies and gentlemen

The boys are excited about her visit. Growing up I remember getting excited about an uncle who was coming home from the war, WW2.
-
Yes, I've had them when I was there. In the US not to much honey. I thought every kid growing up had these to drink, but obviously not. if you have never tried this, you should.

When I was a young man, years ago, there was a cafe that offered a drink called Brown Cow, yes chocolate ice cream in a glass of milk. I have always loved cold milk, and this was perfect. I incorp[orated it in my story. If you haven't tried it, do so and let me know if you enjoyed it or not.

I heard the boys heading for the bathroom, I went to waken Colin, he wasn’t there. Then I heard him asking the boys in they wanted milk like last night or a cup of Ovaltine. Unanimously, “Milk like last night.” That got me up. When the boys are in school, I paint and so far I’m managing to reduce my backlog. According to Mom, my sales has increased since the art critic friends of the professor were here. I had two paintings I had finished I would deliver to the gallery when I go to pickup t

I think the baseball box has to many personal memories for Richie. He isn't ready to face that. There is no way Marcel would leave Colin, Armand and the boys. He's family and loved by all.
-
You are an uncanny reader. I'm sure what ever is in that brief case will affect Richie in some way.
-
They are definitely in love and have enough to spread it to the orphanage
-
I have a feeling that maitre'd knew Marcel before. it almost sounded like a little jealousy or envy

The excitement of our visitors was over with the boys returning to school. There still was one item left, that concerned Richie. For some reason he has avoided unpacking the items that were brought here by the woman named Marie. Speaking French to Andre and Rene must have opened something that he had blocked. Now I know he speaks French, his Mother was French and she had a maid who also is French. I was tempted to open the packages myself but that would be intruding on Richie’s memories and

When I wrote this chapter I pretended I was Richie. how I would feel, what assurances I needed to know I was wanted.
-
Yes and is lucky to find a family that truly loves him.
-
A child need assurances, they gave it to him. Now he knows he is loved and more importantly they need him. a great feeling for a child.

Marie wasn't related to the family. She was a close friend and her moved was to help Richard's mother. if I would move to a foreign country that spoke a different language, I would want a friend as well. in time languages would be learned, but it would be comfortable to have someone to talk to in my language. In every crowd there is a 'rooster' who likes to feel important, they believe the louder they crow, the more important they are
-
Yes, his mother was from France and Marie was her best friend, She married Richards father in France, dad was American doctor, When they moved to the States, Marie came with them.
-
Yes they were completely surprised. Now the family will know three foreign languages
