Yep. The only light I have in me was from that time I accidentally swallowed that LED flashlight.
Um...I thought it was something else in the dark. Guess I should have turned it on, instead of the other way around! :)
I seldom beef about anything. I do deal with a few turkeys in my job, like the infamous Ms. PITB.
But at Christmas, everyone is a lamb in my eyes. For one day, at least!
You certainly had me wondering what was happening here! I don't think I suspected Kim was voting until the very last second.
Well, actually, when you said it! Great little tale!
Someone like you doesn't need decorations, anyway. Christmas is within, and I see it there, in you!
But I am not putting a Ford Pinto in my living room for Christmas, no matter HOW persuasive you are!
Where I live, trees run about $85 -$100. In the city they are almost twice that.
Artificial trees are REALLY ridiculous. You can buy a perfectly nice one for a couple of hundred bucks that will last you twenty years. But I have also seen plenty of artificial trees in the $1000 - $2000 range, too!
Holy cow!
I have no trouble imagining you playing with Legos!
The first Lego Bucky ball! Lego space stations! And, yes, you, too, can make a four-dimensional hypercube out of Legos! Here's how...
Life is largely about people. If you remove them from it, and live like Tom Hanks did on his deserted island, you'll be talking to basketballs for company.
But, no, life is not only about people. The things you can do with them are fun, too!
I just meant to say that, if you have someone in your life to love, most troubles tend to look far less formidable. Especially at Christmas!
We haven't had a real tree for Christmas since I was very young. I carry on the tradition of my family, the belief that killing a tree for a week of brief joy is not a happy thing. We've had artificial trees since I was ten or eleven years old. They've gotten better, more natural-looking over the years, and a simple pine-smelling auto air freshener hung on the back side of the tree makes the illusion complete. So I can easily forgive myself for having forgotten that you need to cut off an inch or two from the base of the trunk before putting the tree in water.
Thanks, as always, for pointing out something I missed, though!
"What do you think of that one?" Ryan asked, tossing a thumb at a handsome Scotch Pine. It was seven feet in height if it was an inch, and probably taller.
John gave it a quick once-over, and then shook his head. "Too tall. My dad'll shit if the top bends against the ceiling. You know how he is."
Ryan sighed. "Most of the trees left here are either really tall or really short." He eyed the Scotch Pine again. "You could always cut a little off the bottom."
"Maybe. But let's keep looki
I missed your comment somehow, and apologize for that.
Being compared to Heinlein doesn't hurt one bit. I grew up reading his juvenile stuff. The only thing I ever thought he missed was the gay part.
But, no one is perfect!
Haha. The single chapter is part of the mystery (as in, how could any author DO this!?!).
There is no sequel as yet, but there will be, eventually. I promise!
Thank you!
Researching is an art that few people do well, even with a Mac and a fast Internet connection. I do a lot of research in my professional life, and I have seen some pretty sloppy work on the part of some in my field. People who should know better, too. Digging out good information from the glut of material available online takes some practice and common sense.
You'd be surprised at the premium common sense commands these days!
