Toni spent all week trying to avoid Marc and the Jocks, but they were making it very difficult. They were just so nice. Toni had never been to a school like this one. I sort of based it on my own high school experience. There was one or two guys in the school we all thought we knew for sure were gay, but thinking back I can't remember if they were out or just assumed. But no one seemed to give them a hard time. On the other hand there was a few people everyone suspected who seemed terrified at the accusations. I don't remember anyone being bullied for "acting or looking gay".

Five schools in three years and Toni has one more chance if he wants to stay out of military school. Maybe this time he can stay out of trouble long enough to graduate. If only he could stop thinking about the overly-friendly King of Jocks that seems intent on making friends with the new guy. The politically correct term is Demon born, but mostly we call them what they are. Vampires. No, not the undead, inhuman creatures of the night you’ve probably read about or seen on TV.
