    A Close Shave

Thanks Okie! I wish I could say I never experienced like what the boys did! Just one of the moments in the story where personal experience helped out! Everything going on with Brett will make sense soon.

Thanks Spikey. Unpredictable is a good description of young Mr. Reilly. As for the parents... Well, if they were deaf they might not know. Deaf and blind with no sense of smell...

Thanks glennish! I enjoyed it too. I think anyone would panic if their mother was about to catch them in the state that Billy and Brett were in! It's my hope that the "hero" will both surprise you and make sense. If that makes sense...

    A Close Shave

There are some things that Billy never tells Brett, especially after the "Billy sucks my dick and not yours" incident. We'll explore Brett's friendship with Joey eventually. The surprising thing is that Billy hasn't told Brett about Dustin's career.

    A Close Shave

I'm digging this discussion. Dustin is a strange cat. No one in his life has ever told him he was good enough or deserved to be happy. He doesn't know how to react when someone is nice to him. It's not that people haven't tried. He does have his pride, and what little he has in life he defends furiously. But what happens when even that is taken away?

Thanks DQ! I have unfortunate plans for the laptop... As for Brett's mom, well, remember what Brett said: "You actually charge money for people to come tell you how they feel and you just make up some bullshit and charge them a hundred bucks? You actually wrote a book full of this shit?" He wasn't far off.

Everything between the boys will come together very soon. I'm fond of Dustin myself. I mean, I still have to destroy his life, but yeah, I do like him. And fuck Joey McKenzie.

The apple didn't fall far from the tree. She's Brett's mom, afterall!
  9. You're right, I do indeed love the comments. I love the passion of my readers (and I do have awesome readers). I don't mind a bit of "roughing up" if it's constructive. Spikey is always honest and constructive with his points. Sometimes my reaction is, "Darn that guy, he's right." So I don't mind a bit of criticism if it's helpful. I definitely stir up a lot of emotion with my writing style. I know that. I've had folks get mad at me sometimes. It's part of the "job" and I accept it. That said, yes. The point of him failing the driving test was that he has to apply all that head knowledge practically. He's been coasting on talent alone. It's what his dad has been beating him over the head with throughout his life. That and his mother was the one who took him to the tests.
  10. Thanks Benji! I enjoyed your take on what's been going on! Things are heating up, that's for sure!

    Summer's End

  12. I enjoyed it too! Sometimes I slip little things like that in just to amuse myself and see who else gets a kick out of it! My favorite part was how Billy no-sold it. "Who?"
  13. Again, how did I miss this, Lisa?!?!? Thanks for the good thoughts on the chapter. It's belatedly appreciated!
  14. Teenagers... "Gah!!!! I'm so brooding and angry!!! ....Hold me, I'm scared!"

    Think or Feel

Thank you, my friend! You are right. Sometimes it is in the quiet portions of the story where we learn the most about the characters. I think that applies for a lot of stories.

How did I miss this comment?!?! Anyway, thanks, my friend, for your encouraging words. I belatedly appreciate it!
  17. How in the world did I miss this comment? Thanks for your wonderful encouragement, Lisa!

    Life Is Unfair

I agree! Way too many hormones pumping into still developing brains! But still good at heart.
  21. Thanks Brian! Dr. Reilly is a lot like her son in many ways. I agree, George is a pretty good guy!
  22. Thank you, friend! I'm just a kid at heart!
  23. I got out of school early on Friday because my retainer came in. Brett hadn’t been in school the whole week, and I was beginning to get worried about him. Not only had he not been in school, but his mom said he couldn’t take my calls. I was getting really worried about him. Dr. Martin didn’t have to make any adjustments to my retainer. It fit perfectly, but it made me make a lot of spit when I’d wear it. I had to keep slurping and swallowing and I couldn’t talk right either, but
  24. Heads up! Because of the awesome response to the last chapter, I'm going to do something I've never done before. I'm going to release TWO chapters this week! That's right. I'm going to release chapter five Sunday night, and then chapter six on Friday. Why? Well, because I appreciate you! But also because I'm super excited about these chapters, especially chapter six. To be honest, these chapters go together pretty well anyway. But yeah, I'm super-pumped and so grateful for the response for the story. I love the comments. I have a lot to learn as a writer, and the comments help me to become better at what I do. So again, thanks for reading! Jeff
  25. Just caught up on the comments on the latest chapter. That was a blast! I really enjoyed the response to the story. I'm blessed with such amazing and thoughtful readers. I never feel like my responses are adequate to show my appreciation. If you're taking the time to read and then even more time to comment, I can't say thanks enough. Every interaction with readers is a joy.
