George flew in the next day with my mother. She saw me and covered my face with kisses, which I let her do. She was my mother. She loved me. I laughed after a few kisses and hugged her. “I’m okay, Mom.” She shook her head. “I can see that, but I was so frightened.” I shook my head. “I wasn’t.” I smiled. “Well, I was a little. Who knew what they would do, but they wanted me alive to find out more. I knew they wouldn’t kill me.” I turned toward Colin. “I knew he was coming. I knew they

They left me alone a minute while as I grieved for Gizmo. It was just a few minutes before I felt Colin reach down and pull me up. No words were spoken, he just hugged me. “I’m sorry, baby,” Colin said softly. “We have to go.” I nodded wiping my face. “Okay.” “We’re not exactly here with permission.” Colin smiled. “And we would be where?” “This is an abandoned World War II lab/bunker. It was a hidden lab during those years by the Nazis to do…all kinds of experiments.” Colin s

The man I saw in Fredrick just didn’t…make sense. He brought me into a dining area. There he made me a sandwich and he made one for himself. He brought himself a beer and offered one to me. When I shook my head, he shrugged. “We have sodas.” He offered. “Coke, Pepsi or…” I smiled. “A Dr. Pepper?” Fredrick smiled and nodded. “We have a Pepper here that works with us.” He went to the refrigerator and brought the familiar can to me. He sat and relaxed. “Care to answer some more question

I remember coming to a little and then another feeling, this time in my arm and I was out again. I did occasionally come out of…whatever I was in. Did I hear the sound of engines? I was on a plane? The floor was moving, sort of floating and there was also the occasional turbulence that would shake me. At first, I thought, damn, we’re going somewhere again? I did remember Colin going to take a shower. Colin! I tried to wake up, but it was too hard. I had no concept of time and no recollection how

The end of the year and a New Year’s Party we had with just the four of us. Mom and Dad decided to spend their first New Year’s alone, not that I blamed them. Gabriella and Alex were doing the same as they celebrated alone. Amasis knew about a celebration for a year and got more into this day. With Amir, we all watched the ball drop in New York. The year began and I was working more with Amasis to get him to understand this world. I got him books to help him as English would be his other maj

It was all set up for a nice party. There were good smells coming through the house from the kitchen and the combination of the greenery for Christmas that had the effect on me telling me it was that special Season. Yes, it was my favorite time of year. I could almost forget there a threat out there. Almost. Amasis’ hair had begun to grow out and Gabriella came early to give him a haircut. In the clothes we had gotten him, he and Amir were looking like they did belong in this century. We had

Okay, I am not big on phone sex. It did nothing for me, sorry, but I can relate to the bombshell moment when you meet that special guy and just KNOW it. I had that in church! I saw, the man who was my future husband, and knew...he was going to important to me. Why? It was just a feeling, but it came true! I asked HIM out the first time and was so nervous, we were planning a dance. (This is not in North Meets South. This really happened. It was an MCC Church.) He and I were on the committee and I was so nervous! I went to him and said. "Since you're going to the dance, and I'm going to the dance. Maybe we should go together." Then I hurried and said. "It doesn't have to be a date or anything." He grinned and said. "I'd be honored." HONORED! No one says that. Yep, I was in love. And that's not fiction!

The flight was pretty uneventful. Well, there was that little bumpiness over the mid-Atlantic, but it wasn’t bad. Amir was pretty amused by it. He had seen planes and knew what they were, so he was fine. It was as I said it would be. Amasis let go of the arm of the seat and once he realized we weren’t falling or crashing, he relaxed and fell asleep. He even woke after a few hours and asked what every parent heard from children on long trips. “Are we there yet?” Colin looked up at Amasis.

Amasis was staring at the destruction in disbelief. Colin came up behind Amasis and put his hands on Amasis’ shoulders. “It’s not gone. It’s just secured.” I came up also and took Amasis’ hand. “We need to go,” I said calmly and led him further toward the SUVs. That was another thing Amasis wasn’t ready for. Amir came up and got behind Amasis. “I told you about these chariots that didn’t need horses.” He waved at one of the vehicles. Amasis nodded. “You did, son,” Amasis said in

Now we risked usage but kept it at key times, but Mark was poised in front of a computer often watching this group move. Amasis was just…fascinated by the computer. “This…” he pointed at the screen, “…isn’t magic?” He asked with a sound that it was incredible and had to be magic. “There is a magic window here. You see them, but they can’t see you. They are so far away! How can you do this?” I nodded. “It is magic.” I smiled at Amasis. “It’s the magic of science.” I put an arm around hi

Blue's a nice color. Gabriella's favorite.

I came in where Amasis was waking up. The idea of telling him was…I didn’t know what to say to him, but the truth. He looked at me and smiled as I sat beside him. “It didn’t let up,” Amasis said. “It hurt every bit as much last night.” “No, it doesn’t let up until we give you the other…when your body’s ready,” I admitted. I wasn’t really able to disguise that something happened. He lost his wife. Amasis looked in my eyes and his smile faded. “What happened?” “I don’t do well-stri

Amasis woke and was a little groggy and said something that the translator couldn’t understand. From his inflection, in his original language form of “damn.” He rubbed his chest. “Yes. Knowing it will hurt and experiencing were two different things.” I smiled and nodded. “Yes.” We helped him sit up more. “I agree with that first remark…whatever you said…everyone that goes on the serum says an equivalent.” Colin smiled also at Amasis. “You look better!” He did! He had moisture in his

A burka is that garment Muslim women wear. It is a black dress/robe that covers a woman from head to toe. Nothing about a woman is shown. Only the eyes can be seen.

We were still very concerned with what Tad Morsi was up to. He knew we were not in town but came to the house. Why? Colin and I were enjoying this underground palace and city. Amasis was actually a nice guy! The fact that he wasn’t a god seemed to take some pressure off the man. Colin rolled over and scooped me up in his arms and snuggled down next to me. He knew I wasn’t asleep, but I’d had a tough few days. I grinned as his arms brought me even closer to him. “Hi, Colin.”

Colin held my hands to his lips. “Now, we’ll go get some serum.” I smiled but wasn’t going. “Well, I intend to, but not yet.” Colin’s eyes grew. “Why? He saw you were a vampire! You need to get this under control! He knows!” I nodded and ran my fingers over Colin’s face. “I know and believe me, I will. I hate all this.” I shook my head. “And you went through this every day for almost two centuries!? I heard what you said about it, but having this one day! Two?” I hugged him again. “I

I could have gone with Colin, but he insisted I remain with Amasis and Nabia. I didn’t like being left behind, but we had gotten Amasis and Nabia asking questions or at least thinking there could be more to this life he had. Amir’s village was northwest of this tomb? Palace? It was…a mountain of rock. The village was two miles away. Underground! Remember, this had been built over hundreds of years, but you could travel through sandstorms and undisturbed by thieves and other raiders underground.

We were definitely in another world now. We were underground, but we contacted Stan and Mark and told them we were fine. There was nothing in these rocks to prevent us from making contact. They reported no problem on their end. Colin sat up and stretched. “Do you get a cup of coffee in Egypt?” He asked worriedly. I grinned. “They do now, but I don’t think they had it back then.” I smiled at the look on his face. He was worried about that. I shook my head. “I’m afraid they may not. This i

We went with Tad Morsi to the remote site and I scanned the writing there on the walls. Once that was done, Colin and I were done. The computer did its job reading the writings and we even printed out the translation. We also said we had a little business to take care of, we might have to go somewhere but would be back. “Business?” Dr. Morsi asked. “Definitely.” Colin nodded. Stan did scan the map to Buddy and used his own digital map to see the land better. He then saw the

We did go to sleep but woke up after a few hours to reset our bodies to this time zone. Now, I felt that lag because of the changes. We woke after sunset, but it was important we try to adjust. “Why are we orienting ourselves?” I asked Colin as he rolled to regain a comfortable spot. “Vampires are night creatures.” “Not this one,” Colin said with his voice muffled in the pillows. I heard him sigh and roll over and then sat up. “This is one time I really need that coffee.” I gave him

That week was agony again for me; more so for Mom and Willie. By the end of the week, Mom and Willie were back. Colin called Tad Morsi to tell him we were arriving at the beginning of the next week. He also emailed Amasis and told him were we coming, but didn’t know where Tad Morsi was housing us. Tad Morsi was still insisting he was making the arrangements. Gio had brought sketches to us and we told what we wanted of the drawings he brought. We got it all together and loaded up. We, a

I never said they couldn't. In fact, I said again and again, others could. The program will do it. There are those that can. They would like to see if this program can do it, too. Using the databases from other resources, and Buddy, they might have...I know it happens...less confusion when it comes to certain words and their meaning. Can Delkenzie do it faster, more thoroughly? We'll see. Imagine you're a student and not well versed in reading the hieroglyphics. You can make mistakes. Unless the man that can read it is there, you don't know. But with this program and scanner, you don't have to wait. A scan and you simply look at the screen. Not everyone can read hieroglyphics easily. This device makes it possible for ANYONE to read them, with the program and scanner.

Colin frowned. “Mister Big Bucks?” He said looking not too sure. Mark nodded. “Huge bucks! You’re not just a man with money…” he shook his head. “No, you’re a man with a hell of a whole lot of money! Above everyone else, whether they see that or not. You will be expecting them to treat you that way. It’s understood! You’re a billionaire!” Colin shook his head. “I’ve not really done anything like that.” Mark looked as to why we couldn’t understand what he was saying. “Yes, you did!” H
