Joey's family uses him, IMO. His parents should be able to afford their own bills and if they can't, then they definitely shouldn't be taking in the grandkids while their daughter goes out for a fun weekend. Then Ronnie's getting Joey into delivering drugs and other illegal things. And Joey is too nice to set boundaries with Josh, which he really needs too.... He just needs to get away from them.

Omg, the next chapter is gonna be aaaaamazing! I'm freaking out over here!!!! 1.5k into the next chapter!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHA!!!!

Joey's boots hit the cracked Warren sidewalk like they were full of guilt. His hoodie was wrinkled and damp, the pocket heavy with secrets—mostly cash and a burner phone he hadn’t looked at since D had given it to him. The walk from the bus station hadn’t taken long, but it felt like hours. Every passing car made his stomach turn. Every step closer to home, he expected to hear sirens or see someone from Vinnie’s crew waiting on the porch. But the house was quiet. No cops. No mob guys. Just

I'll be posting a new one in a little bit here...
-
In the same vein as Tayden (so cute!!!), I was *planning* on having D continue the reading sessions with Joey and probably help him with his shitty diet 😆
-
I slept all day, but I'm working on it now!!! And I'm glad you reminded me about the phone! yay! direct contact 😆

OK, I'll just say this because you've read my old stuff and now the new stuff... But I think why I'm feeling like I failed here, is because I finished Arcum, then reread Teach Me Bad, and I loved that story so much 😍 This one isn't the same. I don't feel like I'm getting as close to these characters, D in particular is hard for me because he's not an impulse asshole and Joey is hard because I keep switching back and forth between the real J and the fictional J. The real Joey would NOT like to be picked up and thrown on a bed 😂 Anyway, these chapters are so much shorter...

That's quite short

Sorry guys, I don't think the dogs can come 😂

I feel like a failure because all the chapters are under 10k! I'm trying to convince myself otherwise 😂 I am my own worst enemy

The kid didn’t hit the ground. D caught him as he sagged, one arm looped around his shoulders, the other beneath his knees. He weighed next to nothing—slight, warm, too trusting. His hoodie bunched up as D adjusted his grip, revealing a narrow waist and pale skin where the shirt had ridden up. His breath was shallow but steady, his lashes dark against his cheeks, lips parted just enough to show the glint of teeth. Too young to be this unlucky. Too sweet to be in a grave. D shifted

Well, he's loyal too! So take a guess 😄 Almost done with the next part!!! I'm just doing this in fun bite size episodes, I guess 😆

Seriously, just the fees alone 😆

Joey woke to his phone skittering across the milk-crate desk like a trapped bug. He fumbled it to his ear, eyes still halfway shut. Ronnie’s first voice message cracked through, too loud for morning. “Up. Now. I need you in forty. Don’t make me come pound on Ma’s door.” The second one followed immediately, smug and sharp. “Bring your car. Gas in it this time. Hat on your head. Move.” The third came seconds later, just to twist the knife: “Clock’s ticking, kid. Be useful.” Joe

That one is special, it's just brewing. 😂

I didn't mention it yet but there's drugs coming up from Florida, so... Let's just assume he's afraid of the organization as a whole.

The body was still warm when Milo asked if they should burn the clothes or bag them. Darius Cole didn’t answer right away. He was crouched by the wall, wiping a splatter of blood off the cracked baseboard with bleach and a rag. The kid’s body lay slumped across the carpet, mouth half open, legs twitching now and then like death couldn’t quite finish its job. He couldn’t have been more than eighteen. Skinny. Acne. Dreadlocks. Another damn baby. “Bag ’em,” D muttered finally. His vo

I lived there for 2 weeks! I was screaming and crying as I packed up to go back to Stow!!!! This is when I dragged Joey away from that place. We do not live there anymore. And I know you're right. I'm just so disillusioned. I was middle class growing up now I'm lower class and the shock has been eye-opening. I think America is about 'every man for themselves' and I want more community and togetherness! I think I'm low-key socialist 😅

I grew up in a pretty nice town. Imagine my surprise when I meet this guy who lives 40 mins away in a third world country 😂 This is my attempt to bring attention to the injustices happening in America! Drugs, bad schools, bad health care, military police, poverty.... This place sucks, it's not the amazing land I was told it was in school. Very disappointed America
