    Chapter 11

Cold hearted for sure! Though I don't use the "h" or "w" word to describe anyone. As you've said before, Jesse only had so long to play with fire till he got burned, and there's more in store for him as the story progresses further. Thanks for reading :D!

    Chapter 11

Yep, Jesse's safety net is gone. And being how he is, I'd expect the following chapter in his life will only get much harder, especially with everyone occupied with other issues. Thank you for complimenting my set up :)!

    Chapter 11

A week seemed too far and too soon all at once. Devan anticipated his niece, uncle, and aunt’s visit to his place with excitement and worry. He then heard a knock on the door. “What up, buttercup,” Jesse greeted him, presenting his handbag as he walked through the door. He sashayed over to the couch and got himself settled in. Despite Stefan and Jesse not being on speaking terms, Devan continued to see Jesse. “Hey Jesse, how’s it going with you?” “Splendid my dear! Just coming fro

    Chapter 10

Devan connecting with his niece is something I'm really excited to write about :)! I can't wait to add more to their story. And yes, Chris is the worst. Like Jesse, both of them can't keep repeating their bad behaviour/actions for too long. Something's gotta give.

    Chapter 9 Part 2

Yes! He's out of control! No one can get away with being this way for very long, so he just might get his just desserts :P.

    Chapter 9 Part 1

Thank you for complimenting my writing :)!!! Jesse is very hard to empathize with. I think this is the first time I've created a main character that readers will have a hard time caring much about :o!

    Chapter 10

“Heeeeeey!” “Chandra!” Stefan leaped out of front door and hugged Chandra fiercely in front of his apartment door. “I’m so happy you’re here!” “I’m happy to be off that plane,” she exclaimed. “It was crazy Stefan, don’t make me do that again.” Stefan laughed. “Sorry you went through that. Here, come on inside. I love your dress.” “Thank you!” Chandra said, putting on display her orange, flowy summer dress that went just above her knees, complementing her golden skin tone. She too
  8. It all started after fifth period. Just as we were getting out of classes, Jace accosted me in the halls after texting me that he had this “very important” information he wanted to share with me. “Are you for real Jace,” I asked, “or are you just pulling my leg?” “I’m serious, I have a date! Why don’t you believe me? Do you think I’m undateable?” Would he be upset if I said yes? “I thought you don’t date, Jace. What changed?” “It’s not what, my good sir. It’s who!” Already ir
  9. It felt as though time stopped and the music had muted. Devan and Stefan returned back in their positions. Devan’s eyebrows were furrowed, lips were tight. He stared at Jesse hard. Stefan's mouth fell open. His premonition was correct, and he wished that it wasn’t. He shook his head as if he was still in a daydream. “Jesse,” Stefan said his name, though it was hardly audible. Jesse laughed. “Shocking right?” Jesse turned around to find Filiberto walking over with the two drinks. “Watch t
  10. The three friends wouldn’t meet as a trio for a couple of weeks. Jesse offered to take the two out to a restaurant, thanks all in part to Nikolai’s generosity. Jesse would invite Stefan and Devan to Tyler’s, a high end restaurant with small servings and high prices. When Devan arrived and checked out the menu, he was thankful that Nikolai was paying, wondering why anyone would even think of paying seventy dollars for some steak. “Damn ya’ll, we haven’t met up in a minute,” Jesse said. “I wa

    Chapter 8

I'm sorry to hear that was something you went through, JP... Verbal abuse is such an insidious form of control. I don't know if this has been your experience, but you almost began to normalize it! I grew up in a abusive home myself and I didn't realize I was in one until just a year ago. I appreciate you telling your story, cuz there isn't too many others who I share that experience with. I truly appreciate you following my story and sorry if any of this has been triggering for you in any way!

    Chapter 8

Stefan stepped into his apartment the morning after. The only alone time he’s had had been the walk to his apartment. The night before had been an ordeal, but he hadn’t felt more closer to a friend than he had that night, a gay man at that. Being in a relationship for so long with Chris, Stefan hardly thought of the idea of having companionship with other gay men outside of romance. Doing so allowed him to empathize with another person in a way he had never done so before. Stefan was dedicated t

  15. To Orlando When you danced, did it ever feel like the world just stops? Did it seem effortless as you moved gracefully on the floor, or was dancing never easy for you to do? Did dancing make the world seem lighter under your feet? Or did it always feel so heavy, soles glued to the floor? What was it like being under the spotlights basking in their glow? Did the flashing lights make you feel as though all eyes were on you? Maybe dancing was the onl

    Part 1 and Part 2

Thanks for reading and commenting! Yeah, if I get enough responses, I'm definitely thinking of rebooting the series. This was made sometime ago, but I think I can whip up some ideas to get the story started over again :).

    Part 1 and Part 2

Part 1 The outside felt like cold ice pins were poking into my face and ice cubes parked on my earlobes. The darkness of this night surrounded us like bees on a hive. The only light that was present had come from the street lights scattered across the park. The smell of skunk wafted through the air, but it was just the pot my buddy Jace brought. My friends here were hungry for its temporary escape. I prefer company, especially on a Friday night, so I sat on one of the benches we shov

A story I wrote when I was 19 in college, the story revolves around four high school teens and their in-school and out-of-school shenanigans. Playful and silly, a story for the teens and the high school artists within us and among us.

    Chapter 7

I see Devan and Stefan being really good supports for each other as the story furthers along! I'm still playing with the idea of what direction I want to take their relationship :).

    Chapter 6

Thank you for your feedback RJ! When I read my current and past material, I realize how much easier I find it to write about difficult times. Maybe it's a strength of mine to tap into those moments? I would like to include more pleasant, joyful moments for these characters. Hopefully I find that balance as I write this story!

    Chapter 5

Thank your continuing to read! Yes, Jesse is going to take some time before being privy to what Devan is going through. Thankfully, Stefan is intuitive and can offer his support to get him through :).

    Chapter 7

Devan had been in a daze these last few days. He sat himself on a park bench and watched the clouds pass. It seemed as though time simply moved forward and Devan went through it absentmindedly, numbly. The rent was due, house cleaning needed to get done. Even the most stressful, time-sensitive tasks at work seemed to not phase Devan in the least. Very few family members reached out, asking about his brother. The ones who did were sent to his voice message system. It didn’t help that Devan found

    Chapter 6

Thank you for reading, Parker. I was actually worried if I was writing a story that maybe lacked the lighter moments that every story needs to have balance. Your comment is noted. I definitely want to add more pleasant and healing moments within the story so it doesn't seem like the characters are living exceptionally difficult, joyless lives. Your feedback is appreciated :).

    Chapter 6

“Yass! A double shot of vodka cranberry for me please!” Jesse spoke loudly and obnoxiously to the bartender at Juniper. Stefan and Devan looked embarrassed. The group went out on a Tuesday night, an undesirable day of the week to be out on the town. Days passed, and Jesse has been wanting to go to the clubs and bars more frequently than usual, drinking more and more each time. While there have been interventions and pleas to keep him from going out so often, Jesse was stubborn. Drinking was anot

    Chapter 5

I appreciate you bringing up PTSD, JP. You're perceptive. This is the beginning of Devan unpacking some past and current trauma that will be developed further as the story moves forward.
