Thank you for a thought-provoking and emotionally triggering read on a difficult and divisive subject. You did it with warmth by including the whole family, but you also didn't shy away from the gravity of the subject matter. I'll make sure to read more from you, Carlos!
  2. Thank you Dmrman! Wine would go really great with this piece lol.

    Chapter 1

This was well done! The ending was quite hard to swallow for sure. Your dialogue and the blossoming romance between Nate and Brian was particularly realistic. Excellent Defiance!!!
  6. I'm very forgetful about writing my replies! I was gonna say thanks haha. Yeah, I've noticed how using syllables can create a good flow to my pieces. I enjoy poetry more when I'm mindful of these things, and yes, it adds to the message!
  7. Talk to me like it’s poetry Make it into a melody Let it take us high like we’re planes Or wash over us like autumn rains Let it flow like we are rivers Its execution gives shivers Our bodies move like we’re rhythm We spoke in rhymes like we need them Our metaphors and similes Drawn together like harmonies Let it mend what has been broken Our words become interwoven Let’s ride this poetry fever

    Chapter 19

Thank you, Parker :)! Yes, Jade is quite lucky to have an uncle like Devan who she could be open with.
  9. You looked ill. I could see the sickness reflected in your face when you woke up next to me on your queen size bed. There weren’t any words, just an urgent rush to the restroom. I laid there contemplating your reaction and thinking about the night before, staring at the ceiling and wondering how it got to this. We met each other in that club. Liquor on our breaths, playful flirting. We danced, your hands on my ass and mine touching your face. My fingers brushed through your crew cut, j

    The Night Before

A short story about a young college student who has a one night stand with a man he didn't know. Lesson: You never know who you're taking to bed with you.

    Chapter 18

Thank you!! It's good to write about Jesse transforming and redeeming himself for his past wrongs. Cuz he sure was hard to like at first :P! It is sad that the two have been separated for so long and have experienced hurt from the same people. The two have a lot of lost time to catch up on.

    Chapter 19

Jesse and Filiberto spent some time walking around the James Street Mall. Shoppers were spilling out of stores in this outdoor mall that a great deal of the town occupied from morning to sundown. As the two wandered its corridor, they would notice some eyes on them, studying them. Even after all the time that’s passed since Jesse has even stepped into the club scene, his reputation still followed him. Filiberto was taking the heat as well. “You see them looking?” Jesse asked. “Don’t they go

    Chapter 17

Thank you, Parker! I'm glad you enjoyed the action scenes. That is not something I imagined I'd be very good at, but it's good to hear I did it well! It'd be nice to create more "action scenes" in future writing . Thank you for your comment!!

    Chapter 17

Thank you!! And I'm so glad you're noticing this shift in Jesse. He's fortunately changing things around and being the friend Stefan and Devan need him to be. Hopefully his drinking doesn't bite him in the back later. He has a bit of healing to do :/. I'm glad you enjoyed :D!

    Chapter 16

Thank you! Dialogue can be really difficult to write, so I love to hear when I've done it well :). It's been great telling a story about three different characters battling against the odds and working together to get through their issues. Thanks so much for your comments !

    Chapter 16

Haha, this chapter has much more jam-packed in there than most! It's good to know the events I've written have left an impression on you. I hope that's a good thing at least!

    Chapter 18

From getting Jesse a place to live to supporting Stefan through his break-up, Devan was stretched thin. He needed some time away from James Street. This would lead him to make an unexpected call to his Aunt Gladys and Uncle Charles. When Aunt Gladys answered, she had been surprised to hear from him, having not spoken to Devan since his brother’s funeral. But, she took no time in saying, “I would love to have you over, dear.” So Devan took his car and he headed down south. Devan’s last visit
