Elijah is a work in progress when it comes to navigating adulthood. The next few chapters will show it a little more.

Oh I know where the story is going all right. It's written (but not in stone, that's what edits are for).

It was a fun chapter to write. Humor is something I think is important. The best line I've ever written is coming up in a future chapter. I'm not sure which one, but soon.
Kage is figuring out quickly just how screwed he is!
You hit upon some good points. Kage is experiencing situations he never got to be exposed to growing up. He's unsure how to respond.
As for the last sentence:
Get back in the corner.
Kage isn't so much domesticated as he is self-sufficient. He's used to fending for himself. He's got a rocking body and that's not achieved with a fast food and frozen pizza diet.

There are a whole lotta issues that will eventually be addressed. You might not get clear answers, but hey... that's life!
Kage might decide to stay. He might not. Conflict in one's own head often influences decisions we might not make otherwise.
