That is fan-freaking-tastic! So happy for you!

For the same reason call centers are located outside of the US. $$$

Comments are what I look forward to the most with my stories, especially from those two. Most authors who really engage their readers absolutely love the feedback.

Apple doesn't fall far from the tree with that oneπ€

My husband sent me a text today as we were two ships passing in the night this morning. Last night I did cauliflower in the air fryer. Well, as you all know, that stuff stinks when it's cooked. Apparently the scent was still lingering when my husband and son came in from work. Upon entering the house my son turned to my husband and said: "What the hell did Mom do? Assassinate the entire cast of Veggie Tales in the air fryer?" π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£ Sorry @Wayne Gray you can't have this one. I'm so using it in my story!

This photo has been making the rounds on social media in the Tampa area. A beautiful picture for sure. https://photos.app.goo.gl/FPTMm6L8Tph1wGyh6 How did it get to be Monday already? It was Friday two hours ago! Have a good week everyone!

I'm happy you disagree with me. My husband does it all the time too. π€£ I guess as a newer author I can see both points. Somermtimes it's too complicated and mind numbing to try to leave a review while sorting out all the nuances of a particular writer. Are they new to writing? Do they respond to story comments without taking offense? Do they fix things that need to be fixed as far as technical things go? Everyone reacts differently to criticism. I, for one don't see the point of getting upset at it. 99% of the time readers use it constructively. For those who are being just plain mean or petty... screw 'em. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and unless the critiquer is violating the policies GA has established then the author can either love it or list it as they say on TV.

Oh Loe. Loe, Loe, Loe. You have no idea who you're up against. So blinded by bachelorhood you can't see a challenge to a duel if it smacked you upside the head. Jay? Nice bet you've put down. Now we wait to see if the gamble pays off and how long it takes before Loe throws down his own gauntlet.

I agree that a story can be less than stellar due to technical issues like grammar and spelling. However, those are most often found in stories by new authors and are able to be corrected with proper editing, which should be done via pm. I've had issues pointed out to me on every single one of my stories, both in the comments and via pm. I make sure the issue is addressed and always thank the reader for pointing it out. It helps me grow as an author. In those cases it should certainly be mentioned in the review. It's up to the author to decide if he/she/they will heed the advice. This has proven to be a great topic and the variety of opinions just goes to show the awesome diversity of the GA audience.

Mrs. G. makes some good points which I agree with. When it comes to reviews, especially on a site as unique as GA, I think most reviewers tend to lean toward the 5 stars for the sole reason of personal preference and they truly enjoyed the story. This site exists to promote all levels of writing. From the fledgling author to someone on the same level as Stephen King or Danielle Steele. Honestly, if a reader is inclined to leave less than 4 stars, they should perhaps consider PM-ing the author first and giving them some honest feedback on a less public format. At least give the author a chance to address any concerns in a less public manor. Especially if it is a new author who would benefit more from some constructive criticism rather than being torn apart over lack of writing skills, plot issues or whatever. If the answers are unsatisfactory or unanswered, then by all means leave a less than 4 star review. You have to keep in mind that the majority of authors post on this site for a variety of reasons and most are in it because it's something they enjoy doing, not because it's a career choice. Even though we think our stories might belong on the New York Times bestseller list, the reality is, writing and posting on GA is an outlet which we utilize for many reasons, but first and foremost to most authors, is to bring a little reading pleasure to the GA audience. Do I wish all of my stories get all 5 star reviews? Of course! Is it reality that they will appeal to everyone on that level? Of course not. But to leave less than 5 stars without validation does a disservice to both the author and the reader. It's not a true gauge for other readers if you leave 3 stars but say that you really enjoyed the story. If you thoroughly enjoy a story, but feel there are issues with pacing or characters by all means say so in your review. Just give it a fair star rating that reflects your enjoyment of the story rather than technical issues.

I've been okay, but not okay. Trying to come to grips with some news that eventually will be life-altering by trying to do normal things to take my mind off of it while some part of my brain tries to process it. My husband was diagnosed with macula degeneration. While not life threatening, eventually his sight will deteriorate to the point where his life will be drastically changed. Hopefully not for a while. It's only been a little over a year since his last exam so they caught it early. He has to test his vision every day and has added some recommended supplements and dietary changes to Hopefully stave off the progression for as long as possible. Who knows? Maybe in ten years there will be an effective treatment. For now we're just going to have to deal with however his body decides to deal with it. On a positive note, winter in Florida is over. Near record heat is in the forecast.

The nuns would be soooooo disappointed.

Thanks so much for your feedback! I always appreciate what my readers have to say. It makes writing worth it. One thing you can be assured of is that when I start posting, I stick to a schedule of every third day. I hate waiting longer that a week (and that's almost too much!). Elijah's story is humming along abs I can't wait to see what he has to say to me! Please make sure you recommend the story if you haven't already done so on the story introduction page. Reviews are always appreciated too. Thanks again!

Another part of speech that the nuns drilled into us with repetition. Another memory triggered..... an entire class reciting a string of prepositions in a sing-songy cadence with the nun clapping her hands to the beat. π

Wonder what HR would think of that particular perkππ€π€£? BTW..sneaky you, using the time difference and posting in the middle of the night. π

I lucked out, I truly did. I really like this doctor and she's part of a small practice, just her and her husband. The majority of the practices in this state are part of corporate chains.
-
Okay I'm going to have to jump on the @Wayne Gray bandwagon and support the whole "go see the damn doctor and get routine maintenance done!" I had my follow up appointment today to go over lab work. Mixed bag of results, but overall not horrible. Blood pressure is still high so the meds got adjusted. The majority of the labs were normal. The one thing I worried a about was the status of my previous diabetes diagnosis. I was put on medication but let it lapse when we didn't have insurance. So 3 years of having no clue as to how my body was processing natural insulin and sugar and what kind of damage was being done. Levels are still elevated, but only slightly, falling into the 'pre-diabetic' category, which means it will be monitored and if I can get past this damn plateau I've been stuck on since mid-December and get back to losing weight it will in all likelihood resolve itself. So that was a big relief. Knees still suck. Getting referred to an ortho to possibly get some injections. So, if you're scared of the doctor, try not to be and go. It's not so bad. π

Happy Birthday Dr. Suess! Green Eggs and Ham was both my kid's favorite. I will not read more Sam I am. I will not read more eggs and ham! (Side note; in my nursing home job way back when, we had Dr. Suess' cousin as a resident. She was the most crotchety, miserable, racist old lady you ever wanted to deal with. But she was funny.) Have a good day everyone!

I secretly think they're related, some sort of third cousin, twice removed. Committmentitis runs in the family.

It just boggles my mind that people are so self-centered that they so readily put someone else's safety at risk because they're too idiotic to hit three numbers on their phone. You don't even need to unlock it. All phones are capable of calling 911, even if they're locked. I consoled myself by attempting to make cauliflower pizza crust. It was.... a mostly successful endeavor. Taste wise I really like it. Texture wise, I need to fine tune it. All recipes call for you to squeeze the life out of the cauliflower to get all the moisture out to make a crispy crust. Mine..... needed a fork. Not super soggy, but a little limp in the middle. The edges crisped up okay. Next time I'll use frozen cauliflower rice to save time. All in all I consider it a success and will try it again.

Okay, let's just lay it out there. I love Loe, but his head is buried sooooooooo far up his own ass, Jay's gonna need a set of forceps and a lot of lube to pry it out! I'm talking baby delivering, salad spoon forceps. π€£π€£π€£
