The beginning of a story is always the easiest part for me to write because I have a pretty clear idea of how the first 10 or so chapters should go. Building up the plot and creating scenarios and making the readers think is fun. Coming up with red herrings and blind alleys and throwing in a cliffie or two makes writing enjoyable. The theories are always interesting. Some are way off base, some are close, and occasionally a few hit the mark. You'll just have to wait and see how this whole search for the laptop pans out. Great observations Anton!

There actually is some foreshadowing in this chapter, but maybe not the way you're thinking. The possibility of a cheap knockoff is real. Kage is quickly figuring out how much of a liability Elijah may become. Should be interesting to find out how he reacts to whatever his boss decrees.
