This was an extremely emotional chapter, but that's who Elijah is to me. He evokes emotion, plain and simple.
I think Kage is enjoying himself in the afterlife. He's free of the loneliness and darkness that encompassed him in this life. I can honestly picture him becoming beasties with Lucifer and pranking the snarky demon.
Elijah has an inner strength few people have. I think him and Reilly have the most in common. They both endured extreme torture- Reilly's being more physical and Elijah’s more emotional, yet persevered. Not many people can get through something like that and remain pure of heart.
Kage will love and protect Elijah until the next lifetime they can be together.
