The Drop in Centre

Laugh for the day: One of my brothers called me yesterday to chat. His granddaughter just turned 5. He was babysitting her when things got real quiet. Never a good sign. When he went to check on her, he discovered her finger painting the lower kitchen cabinets. He said the conversation went like this: Him: E, what do you think you're doing? E: Making poor life choices Him (trying not to laugh): Why? E: (deadpans) Because sometimes you gotta say f**k it. He said all he could do was laugh. I told him that I know parenting has changed a lot with all this "gentle parenting " stuff, but you still have to pick your battles and with one sentence that little kid won thr war. 🤣😂😅 He knows where she picked up that phrase. Her mom apparently uses it semi-frequently. Kids will parrot anything peeps... anything you say. Also... I'm using that in a story at some point lol. Have a good day and stay cool! -

It's only been the past couple of years that I've learned how important listening is. My son will talk about what happened to him in a very specific, and repetitive way. It's always difficult to keep my thoughts to myself because so much of his thinking comes out as being very hurtful to others. I've learned not to contradict him and just let him be heard. I did read some news accounts of what happened in your area. Sad to say, its similar to a lot of incidents in the US. There are always two sides to every story and the only ones who know the truth are those involved. In almost every case like this, alcohol is a huge contributor. There's so much on the line for everyone involved. I can see why this case went from a jury trial to a judgemental one. In the US, the prosecution has to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. This is virtually impossible with the circumstances that were provided. All around its a very sad case where the repercussions will last a lifetime. -

This is a very powerful article. I wish I had seen this back when we were dealing with the fallout from what happened to my son. Thanks for sharing tim. -

Does this mean we can add adjectives and verb tenses to our vocabulary? Quicklier, Quicklierer, Quicklierest. Quicklier, Quickliering, Quicklieren Also: This is why we can't have nice things. 🤣🤣 -

Today's thrift store browsing ended up costing me about $75.... which I guess isn't too bad. Thrifting turned into hanging out at my friend's pool for a couple of hours while her nephew smoked salmon and made bacon wrapped asparagus and dirty rice. Omg... it was sooooo good. After dinner, we played Catan which is a really interesting board game. It seems super complicated, but once you figure out what is actually supposed to happen, it makes sense. Sort of. A few adult beverages help immensely. Let's just say I lost spectacularly. All in all, it was a good day. -

I wish I could remember where I read it, but alas, the file cabinet in my brain is stuck. I read an interesting article a while back about the constant evolution of words. How they come about and how they change in meaning. Reading a book written in the 1800s is almost like reading a foreign language. I wonder what readers in the future will think about the language we use now? Skibidi anyone? I'm off to do some thrift store browsing with a friend. Have a good day everyone! -

I've never used any AI to write. I'm pretty sure my brain is skewered just enough to come up with some interesting stuff. Some days it frustrates me, other days it scares me. Lol But at the end of the day, if I've managed to write anything I consider it a win. -
Does this mean I need to see if Lucifer will get off his duff and grace me with another little tale in the near future?

Izzy led a bit of a wild life in his younger days, but he ended up having some amazing accomplishments. The music world lost a true legend. -

Its great that you'll be able to repurpose it. I know your brain will be able to come up with something nice. What color(s) was it? -
There was a time when I would contemplate killing off a cat, but I don't think I could actually do it. Pets and kids are pretty safe but you never know. I did kill off Nash's daughter.... but I never developed her character other than as a memory... so it doesn't really count. I'm still not a cat person but I do have a soft spot for a certain tiger/calico kitten who is turning out to be quite sassy. I wonder how that happened?

Hmmm... couple of theories on this one but I'm probably way off base. Also: East Karjackistan... sounds like something @astone2292 would come up with.🤣

An author after my own twisted heart. Way to go SA!

Well this one started out little scary with a touch of creepy, thinking about what those aliens could do. In the end, it, it makes you think about all the possibilities there are in life. Thanks SA.
