Dorian might be well adjusted? But he's well adjusted to an abusive, strength based, way of life. It wouldn't take that much of a slide to go from the warrior who thinks strength is the most important thing, and that outcomes have finality, to the prideful alpha who worries about his standing. After all, he values strength and he sees every outcome as not just final, but permanent. Add pride into the mix, and you have a very volatile mix. And that's ignoring the very real possibility that he was betrayed by Levi, his best friend (and possible lover).

Whelp... I can't say I'm surprised. And frankly? They deserved it, and more. So now we've reached a turning point. Not only has Sam proven without a doubt that his strength is real? He's also realized that the pain he's been feeling is his own denial. Nothing will be the same going forward and I really want to know what happens next. I'm still hoping, despite everything that's happened? The Owen gets the chance to redeem himself. I'm also curious to see what is going to happen with the new friends Sam just made. Since I suspect they'll be important going forward.

I am curious to see whether what the initiation is implied to be is what it is. In any case? I agree with IBEX. I have a good feeling the initiation is not going to go as planned.

Huh... Owen is... SO LUCKY Sam is a good guy. Otherwise, Sam would Man of Steel Clark Kent (BIGGEST ASSHOLE SUPERMAN EVER) him into orbit! I'm hoping Owen gets some redemption here though. I don't hate him. I just think his whole world is toppling down and he doesn't know how to handle it. He is being an asshole, but I think most of that is fear. He's realizing Sam is unreal. Super powered even, and he's scared and lashing out. Probably in denial too. Also, like... I think he is a bit mad at his parents. Probably FOR how they treated him. Perhaps in their attempts to keep him happy? They didn't give him support when he really needed it. Cause Owen doesn't actually strike me as a particularly happy person. Rather a person who tries to appear happy to the world, but inside, he feels anything but. In any case! I hope the next chapter goes well! This story is exactly the type of story I love!

AH alien super powers. Owen is lucky Sam's PTS makes him mostly a pacifist, or dude would be super fucked.

I have a feeling Owen's redemption is going to be a major character arc in this story. Also, dude is barking up the wrong tree. He's challenging a guy whose literally been fighting his entire life, from his most formative experiences, to a fight. This can only end badly for him.

I certainly hope to see a book 3 at some point. Jarin deserves his time to shine at least, and as stated? There are a lot of unanswered questions. Will Xaviel be an antagonist or protagonist next? Will Jarin be? Will the story center on totally new characters with Jarin and Xaviel's stories being finished on the side? I'm itching to know the answer to these questions. In any case, this was great. I'm hoping the third book, especially if it's a finale, is as engrossing as the first two.

I waited to review until I read all of what you have written. It's... quite good, and it makes me really wonder where you are headed with it. I like that you are showing the real effects of power, and I'm liking seeing Shay both be positive and negatively affected by it. Sure, he could be a god... but should he? I think you have asked this question, and perhaps you don't have an answer, but so far, you seem to be aware that, omnipotant power? Is not something that should be within one person. And yet, Shay finds it within him. It is too late for me to say much else... and in any event I'd like to see where you take this before I comment more. There are so many unknowns I'd like to know before I can say much more. But I will say this, I am definitely interested, and I hope we get a new chapter soon.
