  1. And your praise is also much appreciated! I hope "Fidel" lives up to your standards.
  2. A long and sensuous foreplay... I love it. Ha, ha... and then it does happen - then like an orgasm suddenly it's over and you wonder if...
  3. Faking a death, solving a problem, fooling the 'authorities' ... indeed an interesting puzzle. But are brains and courage enough?
  4. Thanks Okiegrad, I always knew you were a visionary.
  5. The god who looks after the innocent had decreed perfect weather for a swim. Wind free, slightly overcast, hot enough to entice people into the sea instead of wallowing in a tepid pool. At a quarter to ten Mort and Arch arrived with flippers, masks, snorkels and beach towels, and claimed a spot amongst the other guests, swapping smiles and casual greetings. After rubbing each other somewhat ostentatiously with sun lotion, surreptitiously watched by males envious of Arch, and females envious
  6. You're supposed to be biting your fingernails down to the quick in nervous apprehension about whether they will succeed. You're a cool customer, Wesley.
  7. Arch and Mort took their time; they wanted to arrive at four o’clock. Hale and Hercules drove fast and at ten o’clock arrived in the forecourt of the Regal Rainforest Resort. ‘This is an exclusive hotel?’ Hercules asked in astonishment. ‘It’s just a collection of cheap sheds with windows. I’ve seen caravan parks with relocatable homes that look classier.’ Hale surveyed the low, flat-roofed reception block surrounded by what looked like a scattering of shipping containers and grinned.
  8. Ah... such callousness - where's your empathy for a misunderstood young woman?
  9. Calumnia’s pleasure at getting rid of Mort was soured by the prospect of yet another house guest. Oasis continued to bore her so she continued visiting her friends, playing the pokies, exposing as much of herself as possible on beaches and swimming pools, screwing any healthy young man prepared to pick her up, and seeing every change of film at the cinema complex in the city. Arch was quickly seduced by Hale’s wit and charm, and never tired of watching him practise his acrobatic skills, gasp
  10. Yes - it certainly was about time... only a few chapters to go - got to start tying up loose ends.
  11. Ah yes.. Love - real love. No unllikeable characters? Must be slipping. Long walk on a short pier - I like that.
  12. Hercules was writing the daily events on the blackboard. ‘You’ve nothing for twenty minutes when you pose for the artists. Then at four thirty you’ve a half hour of Swedish exercises.’ ‘I believe I have you to thank for my invitation to dinner last night with Don and his partner.’ ‘Yeah, I couldn’t make it.’ ‘Don said you didn’t want to see Procura. Why not?’ ‘That was my excuse. I knew you’d do a better job. But first tell me what happened.’ Mort left no detail undescribed.
  13. My pleasure, Jeffrey. I'm pleased you're enjoying the names. Some have to be said aloud, like Procura Tahrt and Sly Littigator. As you suggest, Dug Green is fun.
  14. Oh clever and erudite young man, the answer to all your questions is yes and no - sort of...if you get what I mean. Let me say that Calumny is seldom punished, no matter how it is packaged, as Botticelli illustrates in his painting of the same name. Arch-fishwife - love it.
  15. She is making your life interesting, Wesley. How dull the story would be without her to annoy you.
  16. Here, if Domestic violence was 'proven' a second time after an official warning, Arch would get a prison sentence, and Calumnia would get just about everything. There wouldn't be enough money left to hire a lawyer. Calumnia would sell the place to a developer and that would be the end of Oasis. That is a risk Arch would be insane to take. He is rich only in assets, not in accessible wealth. Perhaps where you live the justice system is rational and seeks the truth, here it is confrontational, does not seek the truth, but weakness and loopholes in the law, and is weighted against indigenous people and men accused - not proven - just accused, of sexual harassment.
  17. ‘You said you do circus tricks, Mortaumal.’ Sly said as if he was genuinely interested. ‘Would you finish off this wonderful evening with a demonstration?’ ‘I’m too full of food to be spectacular, but I think I can manage something.’ He stood in the middle of the space, took a deep breath, then dived forward into a handstand. Dropped into a ball and rolled along the verandah, emerging in another handstand. After slowly lowering his legs over his back till they touched the floor, he stood up,
  18. As a profession it's bloody disgusting - sometimes - and sometimes fun, but never truly rewarding.
  19. True, Timothy. It was a clever ploy..
  20. Exactly, Wesley - He would... if she were to die... but is she going to? There's many a slip 'twixt cup and lip.
  21. The following morning five somewhat serious teenage girls were waiting outside the Activities office when Mort arrived. ‘Can we talk to you, Mortaumal?’ ‘Of course. What about?’ Last night and... and other things.’ ‘Come inside.’ ‘No. Hercules is in there; can we go to one of the other rooms?’ ‘Of course.’ Mort was intrigued. Oasis girls always seemed so self-assured, mature and confident. They sat on chairs in a room used for flower arranging, while Mort perched on the d
  22. Thanks Jeffrey.
  23. You are right, but she has the upper hand now the police have Arch in their sights. Females are always treated better by the courts than men. Surely she is just being true to herself, as he is? So it would not be just to punish her for that?
  24. It was Arch, who brought virginity up as a possible problem, Mort was just being 'cute' and referring to his status regarding females. Apart from that quibble - no comment? Please tell me you're shocked.
