A well written emotional tale that takes you on a ride of emotions. For myself, it was a sliver of history I didn’t know about. Even if you’re familiar with the realities, it’s hard to read. Dodger did a great job of showing the long lasting effects of discriminating laws. I have a lot of respect for Anthony. He felt a lot of common emotions but I thought he kept a level head, considering. If you have a minute and are ready to grapple with a difficult topic, this is the perfect story. Highly recommend.

I’m glad I left this story for last. As phenomenal as it was, it’s left me needing a little emotional recovery, which is a sure sign of a great story. The discrimination people faced/face always leaves a sour feeling in my gut. What Anthony and his friends endured, lasted a life time. great story. Thank you.

True snippet from this morning: Scene: Small PNW coastal town. Two people walking down 101 in biker leathers. At first glance, it looked like the guy wasn’t wearing pants under his chaps. Turns out, he was wearing tight khakis. Me: “Oh God. I thought he wasn’t wearing pants.” 13y old shakes his head: “Psff. We’re not in Florida.” What we’re you saying about PNW birken-socks and plaid?

Sure, a long story broken into smaller chapters. Not a short story in the form of one long-ass chapter. It’s a strange paradox.
