Jubal is focusing on the positives he knows he can admit, that is what is giving him the energy and stamina to continue. He knows he has Lucas' friendship and Lucas has Jubal's love although he doesn't feel he can admit it. He is approaching the 'friendship' as a good man would approach a loving relationship, by asking himself, what can I bring to the table, and not, what can I get out of it? He may not realise it but he is laying the foundations for Lucas to make the first move, which is something that we all know Jubal will not do. Every single drop of blood, sweat and tears that Jubal spills on that land and in that house contains his love and ties him to it more, let's hope that Lucas sees that, before the skittishness of the wildings is triggered in Jubal and he flees. Jubal may want everything to be perfect for Lucas' return, including corraling the wildings, but Lucas will settle for the house being habitable. Hell, Lucas will settle for Jubal still being there. As for Reid and Billy, they have their own stories which I will be happy to read if they get written, and if they have a story together I'll be happy to read that one too. But for now, I'm happy reading about two good men who can have a good future if one of them pulls his finger out and says something.
Sorry for rambling Gary, but there is so much to comment on. Thank you for another great chapter, one that hopefully brings Jubal and Lucas closer together.
