Good morning, all! Another beautiful morning here in the west of Ireland. Blue skies, and a promise that the temperature may be a degree or two (Celcius) higher than yesterday. I may have to think about putting sunscreen on. Especially considering there's still a cooling breeze, so my skin might not realise just how much sun it is getting... Far too nice a day to spend too long inside, so...

Before I started I considered doing just that. It was the fact that some of the main stems of the ivy were so thick that they were beginning to loosen the stones of the wall that made me decide to remove the bulk of it. Once I've repointed the loosest of the stones, I will maybe let the ivy grow back and just keep it trimmed in the future. Or I may grow some more colourful climbers on the wall (or do both?).

I like that suggestion! Of course he'd have to wipe me down as well. Not sure which of the two would excite me most...

Here's the before and after views of the work I did clearing the ivy from the rear wall of my garden yesterday and today... How it looked yesterday lunchtime: And how it looked this evening: I am going to leave clearing the last bit of ivy (to the left of the ladder) until the autumn or the winter. I think there's a pair of robins nesting in the hedge close to that corner, and I wouldn't like to disturb it.

All I am seeing in that post is a small icon and no image. If I right click on the icon and ask for the image to be displayed in a new tab in my browser, all that is displayed in the new tab is: This site is not available in your country And, of course, I still don't see the image.

Hi, Albert! Hope you and yours are keeping safe and well. Beautiful day here. Almost totally blue sky, with only the odd white cloud. Bit breezy, though, which is making today's job a little more difficult than it should be. I'm stood on a ladder, cutting overgrown ivy from the top of a stone wall about 8 or 9 feet tall (actually, at this very moment, I'm in the house having a bit of lunch). Some of the ivy stems are up to 2 inches or more thick, which makes trying to cut them as their branches and leaves blow about in this breeze a bit tricky at times; especially whilst stood on the ladder. But, hey, it could be worse! I could be standing on a chair instead of the ladder...

I think it's just eggs, Tim. Assuming it's the same recipe I mention in my previous post... Here's a recipe from the BBC website: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/summer-souffle-omelette (I use butter for the frying, rather than oil) You can, of course, vary the filling, or even just make them plain. The above website has some alternative filling suggestions, and even one for making a dessert type one, if you have a sweet tooth.

I didn't know the origin of this type of omelette, but it's one that I make occasionally, though only when I have the extra time needed for separating the eggs and the whisking of the whites. A friend of mine demonstrated the recipe to me when I was renting a small apartment in my last year at university many, many years ago (around 1970 or 1971). The resultant omelette is deliciously light and fluffy, due to the air that has been introduced during the whisking of the whites. I usually finish the omelette under the grill for a minute or two after first cooking in a frying pan. This makes the omelette rise and become even more light and fluffy. When my friend showed me the recipe he just referred to them as souffléd omelettes. They are simply delicious!

Sounds like Las Vegas. I spent a night there around six years or so back, after a week in the Grand Canyon. It wasn't by choice, and I wouldn't deliberately go again.

I'd never heard of Kate Tempest before last night, when People's Faces was played on Irish radio. To say I was gobsmacked on listening to it would be an understatement. I wasn't sure who I was listening to, so made sure to listen to the DJ afterwards to find out who was performing. I honestly thought it was a song written for the current pandemic but, when I Googled Kate Tempest, I was amazed to find it was from an album she released last October. What an amazing talent!
