  1. A beautiful piece. Released last year, it could almost be a poem for today:
  2. Greetings, Albert. Here's a picture of Croaghaun Mountain, on Achill Island off the west coast of Ireland. (No, it's not one of my photographs.)
  3. It's Sunday morning here, and currently overcast with a temperature of around 10°C (50°F), and a forecast high of 15°C (59°F). There was a bit of rain overnight, but I think it was no more than an April shower, and it's promised to be a dry day. I reckon I should go out and face the day. But I need my second cup of coffee first.
  4. Hi, Page! You've caught me at the end of a perfect day (spilled flour excepted). I'll hopefully chat you tomorrow. Night all!
  5. Just checked them. One's got whiskey in it, and the other brandy. Both seem fine to me.
  6. I read that as Alberto sauce at first...
  7. Does she sit at the table with you?
  8. These things happen, Albert... Or flour in this case.
  9. Talking about bread baking, I was putting together the ingredients for one of my loaves earlier. Everything was going fine until I lifted the pan from the weighing scales with 500 grammes of wholemeal flour on it and promptly dropped it! Made a mess of the kitchen floor, I can tell you. Fortunately I have in a stock of wholemeal bread flour, and the pan wasn't damaged. So, after sweeping up the mess, I was able to weigh out a second lot and make my loaf.
  10. Hey, Albert! Nice photos, but I hope you didn't take them today. I think you're supposed to be socially isolating, and not travelling too far from home... (Just kidding, my friend. )
  11. Sometimes too much colour can distract from the subject of the picture.
  12. Cheers, Buddy. If you mean the train with "The Jacobite" on the front, that was taken in Mallaig, in the Scottish Highlands. I had climbed Ben Nevis the day before (the highest mountain in the whole of the British Isles), before taking a day return trip on a that steam train on the West Highland Railway from Fort William to Mallaig. Below is a link to a photograph I got of the train passing over the curving Glenfinnan Viaduct, which was actually used in several of the Harry Potter films, most noticeably the flying car sequence in 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'. https://www.flickr.com/photos/86156059@N00/9472014300
  13. Fack! Not sure what Val will think about boiling Penguin eggs...
  14. Just out of interest, one of my Flickr albums contains my black and white (and some monochrome) photographs.
  15. Good morning, gang! A mainly cloudy day here, with current temperature around 10°C/50°F and a high expected of 15°C/59°F. Still no sign of a break in this spell of dry, settled weather, however, which is good news. Although it won't surprise me if the farmers start praying for rain soon. I must get out and face the world (well, the garden) eventually. But first I need my second mug of coffee. Because...
  16. The cocoa was delicious! Good night, all
  17. Time for my cocoa
  18. They're just some of the bits of rock, fragments of concrete, and broken slate that I have found in the garden as I have been clearing it.
  19. With the lockdown and social distancing, I am finding myself often not knowing what day of the week it is... When I remembered that today is Friday, I realised I hadn't taken photograph number 3 for the 52 out of 52 challenge I have set myself, to try and take one new black and white photograph each week over a full year. And the rules state that each week's photograph should be uploaded before midnight each Friday. As I type this, it is currently 23:25 hours. Due to the fact that I am currently, under Government covid-19 regulations, not supposed to leave the house or garden, I have limited choices of what to photograph at present. This is what I came up with:
  20. It went really well, thanks for asking. Continued clearing out the final, badly overgrown, corner. That should be finished soon. There'll be another bonfire to get rid of all the brushwood. Should be the last big bonfire, though. Also started turning a bit of soil for my vegetable growing.
  21. Hey, Page Hope you're having a great Friday, as well
  22. Sweet dreams, B
  23. A powerful poem!
  24. I'm not a religious man at all (that's not to say that I'm not spiritual), but I will follow @dughlas' quotation of scripture with another one from the Bible (Timothy, Chapter 6, Verse 10 - King James Version: "For the love of money is the root of all evil" A powerful piece, Gary. Words that need to be said, need to be said loudly, and need to be said often. You may say that it's not a political piece of poetry, but I think many would disagree with you. Thanks for writing this. And thanks for sharing it with us.
  25. Hey, Gary. Hope you're having a great Friday.
