I agree with all that @AC Benus has said. As for @starboardtack's comment about the dialect: I didn't actually read it as dialect. The impression I got was that the narrator (and possibly even the author, @Lenny Bruce, himself) was not actually a native English speaker. Once I came to that suspicion, I found the sentence structure actually easy enough to follow.

G'day, duggie Much like the first half of yesterday here. Heavy, persistent rain (temp a few degrees lower, around 17°C/62.6°F). Hopefully, also like yesterday, The second half will prove to be a vast improvement

And then, just as the music signalling the start of the track Potter's Field was getting to its most dramatic point, that GIF of yours scrolled into view! (And I'd just taken a mouthful of coffee - very nearly sprayed it all over the monitor)
