  1. Well the homemade chocolate buttercream is now between the two halves of the chocolate sponge, and the finished birthday cake is in its box ready to be delivered to my friend for his birthday tomorrow. It looks absolutely delicious, if I say so myself. But I'm not going to post a picture of it on here, because you'd all just claim slices of it, and I would have nothing left for birthday boy. And there's no time to bake another one. And no, Albert, there's not a trace of poison in it.
  2. The gap in the hedge is now looking less like a gap... I currently have just over one third of the length of the hedge cut back. Weather permitting, I'm hoping to have this job finished by the end of the week at the latest. The large building on the right of the picture is the old folks' home. Hopefully, I'll never have to move into there. But if (Cod forbid) I ever do, at least I won't have too far to move. If you look carefully, you should be able to see the wind turbines on the top of the distant hills. I'm a huge fan of renewable energy.
  3. And I'll whistle a happy tune.
  4. You mean you didn't?
  5. Thanks, Albert! If ever I find three and a half hours of nothing to do, I might even listen to all of it.
  6. And the same to you, ma fée espiègle.
  7. Marty waves at Bucket
  8. Greetings, young Albert!
  9. It's dull here as well. Currently 3°C/37°F with a real feel of -4°C/25°F Forecast of possible snowfalls overnight and next few days - although the east of the country seems at greatest risk.
  10. Happy Sunday, all!
  11. Well, it's coming jus after 00:40 am here, so I'm away to my bed. Good night, all! I'll leave you with Joan Baez's version of this famous song about a racehorse...
  12. I can understand just how much she must mean to you, now. I have a niece in England who has a number of horses. I think she got her first one around forty years ago when she was about ten. I remember going home to England about 33 years ago and visiting my brother (her father) whilst there. My niece insisted I watch a home made video of a foal being born to her favourite mare (like yours it was related to a famous racehorse, whose name escapes me at the moment). You need to remember that this was in the days before easy video editing, so I finished up watching an almost three hour long VHS videotape, that started when the mare first showed signs of foaling. I think I almost fell asleep before the birth itself... She lost that foal a couple of years ago. She still talks about it; and its mother.
  13. I think he might have been talking about himself there, clo...
  14. More like dead rats. After they ate the right cake.
  15. Bon chance, mon ami!
  16. Fingers crossed she does, bro. Just out of interest, how long have you had her?
  17. As if that ever stopped me in the past.
  18. And she probably set you up deliberately there, Gary.
  19. Marty sends a big wave to Page...
  20. Nope. You gave Gary ammo to insult me with. Old Sicilian proverb: "Cod protect me from my friends." (Or something like that.)
  21. Merci beaucoup, mon ami! Et quelle est ton excuse?
  22. , clo! And you think everything has to be always about you. Just like your baby brother, Drew.
