  1. I'm experimenting now, actually. I'm trying to mix visual elements ("artified" pictures) into my chapters. The images all have something to do with the scene in which they appear, and sometimes they give the reader a hint of what is to come. This is something new to me, but I'm sure it's small change for some. Yet, I like the combination. For example, I attached a picture I've run through the program that I use. This picture is nestled in the chapter of my story where it is pertinent, and my few test readers enjoy the combination of words and images. This is likely not what you're after, and I'm sorry for that. I'm not exactly breaking barriers here. You're seeking to push your craft, and that's admirable. I wish you luck with it.
  2. I'm down with getting corrections from others so long as it's going to help me produce better work down the line. Public, private, however. I'm out to be better tomorrow than I am today. That said if someone's out to just tear me down for no reason that's not going to work either privately or publically. I also agree, that generally, I think most folks want to get criticism in private, no matter the flavor, and praise in public. That said, if feedback is constructive and helpful to me as a writer down the road, then I'm personally fair game in whatever medium and manner that a reader wishes to give it.
  3. I write and prefer to read in the third person. When I write it's in third person limited. I did an experimental stint with first-person writing. That work was, ah, a learning experience.
  4. One of my best works centered around a guy who was homeless, and struggling, though he tried hard to retain his pride and to keep his head up. That plotline and that character were born from how I saw a homeless man treated on the street - how judgment was instant, and how he was reduced to a thing of disgust and distrust. Simply stated, I draw inspiration from the real world, and the situations which I deem unnecessary if a little more understanding and empathy were present. This is a good topic. Thanks for starting it.
  5. Hello all. Wayne here. I've been told I should become a member here by some readers on Nifty. I write stuff. Sometimes it's worth reading. 🙂 Looking forward to getting to know the site.
