I dont understand why Danny hasn't moved out of his B&B yet. Has he had to commit long term to it? There's absolutely nothing to commend it and there will always be another one come on the market, that's nearer or with a chance of better roommates. Based on what we've seen to date, my reaction is: who cares about Derek? If I was Danny, I'd have to see something fairly significant to make me rethink my position and soon. Danny is learning to become comfortable in Alison's company. Clearly it's not an immediate lovestruck situation but those affairs can all too easily, blow hot and then cold. His approach with Alison, of taking the time to become friends, then maybe best friends and more, may just result in the relationship that has considered but will it be one that he desires?

What an entertaining evening with new friends. Nick must have stepped up a notch in Danny's friendship rankings (nothing else implied) enjoying the risk of taking the lift over the top. And interesting things are definitely developing on the Ali front. Pity it was all spoilt by the anti-social landlady and Derek situation. I'd certainly be prioritising a move out of there ASAP.

First year 'student party mode' always benefited from a group motivator and facilitator and Nick would appear the man: the ideal candidate for this role. 😉

So much about this story appears matter of fact and it has an authenticity that many readers, seem able to relate to. I haven't checked, but it wouldnt surprise me if the price of the pint of cider is accurate for its day (one shilling and fourpence). Clearly Danny is good at attracting friends. Alison and James and Elizabeth clearly see him as someone they'd like to have around. Nick, I imagine, is a party animal and probably an ideal candidate, given that's what first year Uni is all about, isnt it? 😃 An all boys Grammar school can severely curtail the chances to date girls, so I can see how Danny is fairly unconcerned about his sexuality at this point. I'm sure Danny expects to become the usual hetero once the right girl comes along. Any lingering homoerotic thoughts will be put to bed then, right? I just suspect that Danny is about to find out that it is more complicated than that.

This story is such a trip down memory lane for me. Coming from a poor Irish working class family, I managed to qualify for grammar school via the 11 plus exam stream. There was a fair amount of anti Irish sentiment to contend with too though strangely enough, that was mainly from a few select teachers that should have known better. Congratulations Marty, the characters and dialogue feel so real and I almost feel as though I was there.

Ah pre internet days. There weren't too many sources to explain what a homosexual was exactly. I just remember my older cousin trying to convince me that England had one, and he was called Quentin Crisp. Its hard to think just how naive some of us were.

At least I succeeded at resitting my A levels. I'm well practiced in the art of positive thinking and probably around the same period too. Interesting start; intrigued to read on.

I'm pleased that I was able to overcome my aversion to all things 'Vampire' so I could enjoy this series. Being one of the more mature readers, among us, I still have images of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, and they are as eternally etched into my memory, as the love bands now adorning Taryn's and Justin's wrists. I'm hoping that the entire GFD series, aimed properly at the heart, can become the stake that finally puts them to rest. 🙂 A really promising opener, that's for sure.

Good summation of the camp.

An interesting and diverse motley crewe. I dont think Justin realises just how close he's come to having his throat ripped out on two occasions. Saved once by Taryn, from Bryson and then apparently by his own good looks, from Max. 😉 You can only imagine the trouble that you would land yourself in, if everyone could read your thoughts? That would be the biggest nightmare for me. Justin's arrival has created a fascinating shift in group dynamics, including Trevor, who is already on the prowl in front of his partner Michael. I'm definitely interested to see how this all plays out.

Who'd have thought it? A world where vampires aren't solely focused on death, destruction and world domination. Swept aside in favour of a world where the important issues of life, love and death are among those addressed, from the very beginning. Now that has piqued my curiosity.

There was a real foreboding sense of disaster building throughout that story. I felt like pleading with Kevin to stop with his high risk open interviews, before it got any worse. And even though early on it looked likely that Carter was #6, you were forced to think again, when he backed away from Kevin's hug in the hallway. It would be so easy to put an even different twist into these stories; a different #6 to Carter. But then none would have ended as perfectly as this.

It all started out really amusing, with the science of gay indicators (according to Kevin) and Marc's massively buxomed MILF. But it was surprising just how quickly it became verbally abusive and then physically threatening. Come on Kevin, call it off and be happy with someone who goes out of their way to record last nights copy of Skylight for you. I'm guessing there might be a 'C' there too, as in Carter.😉

Bookshops and Romances: it's a great combination. All this talk of vampire websites connected to 'C'; it was clearly a teaser for the GFD series. I'm not a vampire person but I am a little curious what got Cameron and Aric so excited, to go there in the first place. Time to find out. 🙂

Alex is such a cool dude. Ready to experience whatever life throws his way.

I have to admit that this story was a really difficult read. To watch Danny's inability to break out of his depressive moroseness, brought on by his unrequited infatuation (I'm not even sure you could call it love). For sure, it wrecked Danny's self worth and brought on unrelentless bouts of self-pitying, distrust of others and deepening introversion. Danny should have been receiving professional psychiatric care for the last 6 months and it was very fortunate that he didn't end his own life. I can't get over the fact that his mum drove him to school the day after he was distraught enough to demolish his room. What a dreadful act. At least it all resolved itself in the end. And all it needed was a five minute honest and open chat with Adam without too many dramatics. Well done Eddie for providing the inspiration for what the rest of us take for granted. So another victory for the "Better to have Loved and lost" brigade. And good on Brice for hanging in there, when Danny desperately needed help but was all too eager to reject it. Now that's true love.
-
Oh dear, that was a pretty undignified phonecall. I thought Danny was calling Adam for closure: a final goodbye; but he ends up utterly degrading himself by begging to be taken back. It's time for Danny to grow up and focus on what he does have rather than what he doesn't. He's acting like a "bunny boiler" right now. I'm beginning to wonder if Adam saw signs of Danny's desperation, as an integral character flaw and that's why he began to avoid Danny, in the first place. We musn't lose track of the fact that we are only seeing Danny's version of events here. The whole truth might tell a different story. Maybe it was Danny who demanded that they be together always and that scared Adam away. Either way, Adam clearly should do the decent thing and have that closure chat with Danny.
-
"Screw 'busy'. I want to see you." - OK, I'll take that as a 'Yes' and we can skip the 20 questions. 😂 Awful timing with Adam and Jonathan's appearance. That's definitely going to kill the evening. Danny's so wrapped up in his own misery that I think it will require Brice's astuteness, to figure out whats going on, and help rescue Danny from his personal hell.
-
Such raw and unrelenting, torment depicted in each and every line. I haven't quite experienced these emotions, to this extent; but I have now.
-
Well they say love is blind and Adam's earliest view of the selfish Greg showed that to be true. It was good to see Adam come to his senses and find a worthier, more enduring friendship with Casey. Another victory for love.

"Hi, Jake. My name is Eric.". So what? Did anyone have a better answer to that? A four letter expletive is the usual conditioned response but I'm guessing that wouldn't get the desired results for Eric. I love the collision of self assured and self doubting personalities. Passion aplenty. It was an exciting story as you never could be sure what Jake would do next: cove by the beach, garage at 4am and Lake hut at dawn. Some people are worth taking risks for and throwing caution to the wind. Comsie has certainly created another one here in the form of Jake and, true to form, made him the light of Eric's life. 💞

Darn it, it was so nearly the perfect ending but all I could focus on was Sam's missing sexy whimper. Sam made a noise, a sexy whimper that just sounded like he was enjoying Tyler's cock so much. Like the feeling of this blond angel penetrating him was more incredible than anything I could ever offer him. That seems a good enough reason not to engage in a threesome with someone you care about. By the end, I do feel that Tyler had something to answer for here. Sure they were all having a bit of fun, to begin with but, at no time did Tyler seem open to or mindful of respecting Sam and Matt's personal boundaries, as existing boyfriends. Let's just hope he finds his soul mate soon. 🧛♂️
-
Well I do feel better about that. I was beginning to think it was just my mind that had imagined the whole threesome thing in New Kid In School series. 😉
-
This is great. Until now, Matt and Sam were really just background characters that had something going on with Tyler. Matt was convenient for offering up his spare basement room for Randy and Ryan's steamy sessions. I almost felt that Randy and Ryan were using them, in a way, as there didn't seem to be too much interaction or not enough for my liking, anyhow. So it's wonderful to see Sam and Matt's personal story being revealed here. But, at the very least, we need to hear what went on with Tyler, if he became part of a threesome, and what that entailed. Also, details on the whole Sam ditching Matt for Tyler before ditching Tyler and getting back with Matt. So spill the beans Comsie and don't leave us hanging on any of these threads.
-
Oh the fun that is to be had when the session count is among your greatest concerns.
