Man! this is a fast-paced book! Things are happening and quick. I didn't realize that time has passed so quickly in the story for Adam to take boys to the cabin with him.
-
I just about cried when I read this statement. "Is there anything as beautiful as a child's smile when he knows you care about him." If you don't mind, I would like to quote that when needed. I believe that it should be the quote of the year.
-
Everything is based on positivity in this book and being able to explore a great idea. I love the bond between Adam and his nephews. I think his relationship with Billy is the heart of this book.
-
Oh, my ... Dude! I think I'm falling in love with this story.
-
I found the rhythm of your story. It's at a fast pace, which I'm not use to. But it goes well with your story. I love the storyline, it's fun to read. I like the upbeat attitude you're projecting thru Adan's character, and how it serves to better the people around him. I'm defiantly hooked.
-
Dang dude! I had tears in my eyes at the end of this chapter.
-
Great start to the story. I'm not hooked yet, but I can see myself moving in that direction. I like your writing style.

Hi, I'm just starting to read this story and hoping that it is one that I can really have fun with. I want to fall in love with the characters and let the story move me. So, here we go ... Chapter 1
-
Ha, I was so right. I was spot on with Dad getting Jeremy. Lol.
-
I'm thinking something happened to Jeremy and Dad went to Dallas to get him or to help him. Or ... both.
-
Dad is finally being a dad and trying to understand his son. He is always in coach mode, that he forgets to be a dad. I can understand that. He's a hard ass, and he needs to be out on the field. But he's understanding that Ryder needs his dad too. I loved that you show us that in this chapter.
-
Finally, his bullies are starting to like Ryder. And it looks like even his coach likes him too. Who would have thunk. It seems like things are going in the right direction for Ryder. Now I feel sorry for Shawn and his brother.
-
I'm still feeling sorry for Ryder. He gets bullied by his teammates and his dad. What in the hell is a fifteen-year-old to do? If he's not challenged, how will he be able to move forward in football? How will he get better? But it is what it is.
-
Hi, I picked this story out of all the others because it has sports and football. So far, I like the story line. Some of it doesn't sound realistic to me. We are talking about fifteen-year-old boys ... right? I don't think Ryder would cave to dad that easily. And his best friend ... what best friend would take the dads side and tell him to be a team player. I mean ... We are talking about fifteen-year-old ... right? Listen, I get it. I understand the Couch and why he's wanting to tread lightly and give Shawn a chance. But looking at it as a fifteen-year-old. Not playing your best players is stupid. What other sport does that? They always put their best players forward. This first chapter made me feel sorry for Ryder. If his dad would have sympathized with him, understanding it wouldn't seem fair to a fifteen-year-old. And communicating that understanding with Ryder, maybe it would made me think differently.

"Just some guy" Huuum ... With your statement and Dughlas laughing at me up there, I think I fell into an inside joke. Alright, I see how you are ... pick on the new guy. I'll tell you what I'm going to do, I'm going to pull my big boy's pant up and head into the future. Onward to "Winter." I'll find out who this Owen guy is myself.
-
Who's Owen?
-
Thanks for the list ... you're a life saver.

CARLOS!!! Dude!!! You're killing me! You didn't let us see CJ initial reaction to getting the jeep. Man Carlos, I truly enjoyed the first two chapters. I've come to love CJ and "The Posse." The dads are great, and I think they are doing pretty damn good as parent. I see with the uncles; CJ is building rock a solid relationship with them. They are pivotal in CJ's growth into an upstanding man in the community. With the dads and "The Posse," the uncles are his community. I welcome the new characters and hate to see some leave. CJ is a happy young man, that is all I could hope for. You ended this book on a good note. No disasters ... The PP is safe from being sunk ... for now. Lol.
-
I like the word "posse", that will be my go to word for his group of friends. Lol. "The Posse." Look for it in upcoming chats.
-
Damn, I must have hit a nerve. Sorry, I didn't mean for it to go this far.

You said it's unproven and irrelevant. You might think so and it's your right chose to feel that way. But you need to ask anyone who had to grow up that didn't eat because mom or dad thought it was more necessary to drink booze or smoke pot. Or sometimes the parent gets abusive. Ask those people if it's unproven or irrelevant. I've seen it too many times that I sometime feel like screaming. Why don't parent love their children more than the drugs they put in themself. I'm not saying all people are like that, but there is enough to be a problem. I'm not a person that thinks we should have prohibition like you say so many people do. I don't need scientific proof when I've seen it with my own eyes. Believe me, until I had to deal with it day in and day out, I thought the way you did. But I've seen way too many abuses to support your way of thinking. We will have to agree to disagree on this one. And by the way I never said CJ was stupid, does he make questionable decisions ... yes, everyone does. I think you might be putting word in my mouth. Lol.
-
This chapter left me energized. I'm looking forward to seeing what CJ and Chipper will do when they put their heads together at their school. It should make for an interesting school year.
-
Yah, parent tells their children that they can say anything to them ... Believe me, they don't want to know everything. Lol. CJ proved it in this chapter. If they really do want to know, they damn sure better have an answer ready when they talk about their sex life. Lol. Everyone wants to be best friends with their kids, which is all well and good until it's time to be the parent. The dads said that they need to be parents first. Well, now is the time to be one, but how are they going to handle it? When talking to CJ, they need to learn how to step on his toes without hurting him. Guide him to make the right decisions for himself. Cj is one of the few kids that they can actually reason with. The dads are babies at parenting. There's no doubt that there will be a steep learning curve. They better adapt or Cj will leave them behind. He's too smart. After they get over the shock, I believe the dads will get there.

I'm not a big fan of Pot or drinking. I understand it's the cool thing to do. When you are doing that stuff, you are no longer in control of your own body, the drug or stimulant is. When you aren't in control of your body, bad things usually accompany it. And like it or not, it could lead to harder drugs. I've seen too many Kids displaced because of mom and dad being drunk or high. Our children deserve better than that, they deserve sober parents. I believe kids are setting themselves up for trouble when in company of the stuff. It hurts my heart to see CJ partake. I was hoping he was smarter than that. But that's my opinion, and you know what opinions are like ... They are like assholes ... We all have one and they both stink. Umm, I'm just say'en.

This was a fun chapter. As we are getting to know CJ's school mates, I'm missing something. I would like the know their reaction to CJ's story. I want to know what CJ said to Thiago in the hallway after his break down at the meeting. There were other places where I wish you would have supplied a little more detail to reactions or situations going on. Damn, that sounds nosy of me. Lol. Well, I guess I am in this situation. Lol.
