In that case I guess I did not do a good job of describing what bugs me: In general, it is totally fine to condense stuff or skip ahead. I certainly get the time constraints and no I am not missing any in-depth chapter on how they do their laundry. 😉 But it was not you (the narrator) who did the condensing / skipping. You let Troy do it - it is his POV after all in this chapter. And that, to me, is a very odd perspective. He is glossing over things. And it does not feel right (to me) that this is all he would have to tell. Now, it may just be me being a stickler. Unfortunately, I have not found the off-switch for that yet. Then again, I am German, it just may be possible that we do not come with that particular feature.

Wow. Not too sure I like the increased speed at which time flies by for the guys as *clearly* things are happening we don't get to watch. It's like giving a flipbook a once-over or watching some cartoon on fast forward or something. We only get a peek at turmoil, but not much ordinary life, do we? I mean, not once do we get a glimpse of what a normal day or weekend was like? No going shopping, cooking together, watching a movie, having friends over, etc.? Do the guys go out at all? So many questions! Like: What - besides therapy - is Miles actually doing with his spare time? He got a job, we learn, but does he enjoy it? What are his co-workers like? Does he meet any new people that way? Does living together work well? That is some adjustment for a lot of people - living together in their own place for the first time, right? Do they have neighbors? Do they get along with them? Etc. And since it is Troy who is telling us nothing much about any of that, does that mean he does not know or care? Like is he a robot that studies and sleeps and not much else? I re-read the chapter, but for the life of me, I could not make up my mind if it is reasonable to assume that Miles really withdrew into himself or if it is rather Troy not really paying a lot of attention? At any rate: If I asked Troy to give an account of what his life is like, how his relationship is developing and to outline what is important to him, etc. and all I would get is this - I'd think Troy to be in need of therapy just as much as Miles is.

I have once had to witness a family member taken via helicopter to a hospital (any other transport was deemed to dangerous for fear of damage to the spine). Such events take your breath away and really focus your attention on the NOW. Whatever useless squabbles you might have had with others that are around you or any daydreaming, making plans, etc. is all out the window in an instant as you have your priorities rearranged on the spot. I hope Meg will turn out to be lucky with all things straightforward to treat and then healing well!

Well, I guess there are bound to be some (potentially nasty) twists incoming eventually, so why not enjoy the feel good chapter while we have it? I feel glad for that whole family that life can feel good!

So, now that I actually read the chapter... 😇 This feels weird to me. We know Miles' uncle's death was an accident, but given Miles had a lot to gain ("Thirteen point seven million fucking dollars" to be precise), I have trouble imagining him getting hold of the money that easily. But be that as it may: I hope this will be good for him. No longer worrying about being found out, etc. Living with a family that cares for him. And hopefully the money does not end up turning him into a spoiled brat (trust fund baby, professional offspring - whatever term you like). Though I don't see that happening as long as Mr. Riggs is in charge (and still doing well, of course).

Better late than never! 🙂

Think about it as a series of opportunities to add twists, turns and cliffies to the story. Might change your outlook. 😅

I am getting a bit annoyed with the universe here. Or to be specific: with the universe you created @kbois Miles and his criminal parents, the uncle he killed, Troy and his brother and all the stuff that happened there and now Troy's dad has a serious condition and that might just come to jeopardize Troy's dreams of not taking over the ranch... 🤯 Is that not a bit much? I mean why does this universe of yours have to pile more unpleasant stuff onto to heap of worries these two have? On the plus side they found each other. 🥰 You better make sure this will continue to be super awesome for the guys so it will offset all the nastiness life dealt out so far...
