As Ibram Kendi and others have been trying to teach white America for the last few years, you can be a racist or you can be an anti-racist. The same is true of homophobia: Hanna can be a homophobe, or Hanna can work on herself and her friends and family as an anti-homophobe. Only she can change herself and only if she wants to. So at some point, Dean is going to have to decide what's really going on with her, and maybe with himself.
