This story relates so much to what is going on in today's society. It is really sad that we as a people have come so far in many ways, but yet are still have a mindset of the 60's in racial issues.
I grew up in small town America myself and was brought up as a racist. But, once out on my own, I came to realize how wrong it was and is. No one is inferior to anyone. No one is less of a human being than anyone else.
And yes, I know some of us who are white have experienced racism in reverse. African Americans hating us because we are white. That was what really opened my eyes to how wrong racism is as a teenager. I had just turned 18 and on my own in the big city.
