Four years of writing experience will do that to you. I was pretty fresh as a writer when I started out on Touch.
  2. James: James did have to admit, albeit grudgingly, that Finch was a decent chaperone. The older man had thus far hung back from the younger two by a few dozen feet as Cody led them through the woods; holding to that sweet spot that was just far enough away for their conversation to be muffled by the rain, while still remaining close enough to communicate with relative ease. “You’ve really never been on a date before?” James asked. Cody shook his head. “There’s no-one around

    Fraid not.
  4. James: All in all, Cody took the knowledge of there being monsters in the world relatively well. That didn’t mean the silence that resulted wasn’t awkward. James tried to give him some time to get used to the idea, pulling out his phone and dialing Finch’s number. Two rings. Three rings- “Hi, James,” Finch murmured. “What’s up?” “I caught the lake thing,” he said. “I’m putting it somewhere safe while I figure out what to do with it. Figured you’d wanna know.” A brief hes

I'm Australian. It's used pretty commonly here to describe stuff that looks weird.

  7. James: “You told him it was Bigfoot?” James asked as they climbed back inside the car. “Why?” “It’s easier that way, trust me,” Finch replied. “No way was I going to convince him he was hallucinating. Easier to just tell him something no-one will believe. You let a guy go around with a story about how he found a monster in the lake, and people pay attention. Not much, but some. But if you let him go around saying his boat got spooked by Bigfoot? No-one cares. Everyone’s seen Bigfoot.”

Well, Casper went home to a certain extent. To grab his stuff. He still lives with James' family.

"Okay, did I miss who the hell Ceros and Astra are from the last two chapters???" Ceros and Astra are characters from the yaoi fic James and Cody are both reading. "Hmmm... Cody seems to be too cute and definitely in need of some excitement; but not sure he is really ready for James..." I share this perspective.
  10. Chapter Fifteen: By the Light of Distant Moons. “Don't you understand?" whispered Ceros, his voice shaking with restrained yet unnameable emotion. "It’s you, Astra. It has always been you." He reached forward, placing a tentative hand on Astra's well-muscled forearm. The lord of the Silvermanes gazed back at the sorcerer; stunned, for all his wisdom, if only for a single moment. "Ceros," the larger man murmured, a hitch in his breath. "I-I love-" Ceros put a finger to his lip

"Guess I was hoping that even though different levels of power and other issues; that James, Casper, Tasha, and maybe even Caleb would have been able to train and work together..." I think they generally do train together, and may well work together. But this is kind of an exam. James has to do this part without them.
  13. Casper: Casper Sullivan set the guitar on his lap and strummed a chord. He winced. It was badly out of tune. No surprise, really. He hadn’t played it in, what? Eight months? Nine? He twisted a few of the keys, strummed again, twisted some more. Better. He started playing, plucking the bass-line to an old favorite from memory, trying not to think. It felt weird being back in his old house; off-axis, sitting on a bed he hadn’t touched in almost a year, trying to ignore the
  14. Indeed 😛.
  15. "Wonder what will happen when the pissoff the Toranga family..." Heh. Scary thought.
  16. "Sounds like they are just more afraid that someone that powerful isn't under their total control. " Well, yeah. There's definitely an element of that as well. I think their perspective is pretty valid regardless. Fundamentally, they just want a non-lethal way of taking the kid down if they ever have to. That's not exactly unreasonable, when you're dealing with a kid that powerful. Especially when he's made contact with not only Father, but also the Whale. Like, the government is at least nominally aware that the Whale has directly attacked James' mind in the past. It's not mentioned here, but it is a salient point. If it's possible to be psychically compromised, then James is definitely at high risk.
  17. You're welcome!
  18. No, they didn't do anything to him. As for whether they know, the answer is maybe. But unlike James, he's not powerful enough to potentially destroy a massive chunk of New York if Father asked him to.
  19. They don't trust James because he spent time alone with Father; a man who has a habit of brainwashing children.
  20. Special Response Team Lead; Nicholas Finch: The single hardest task during an emergency was going to sleep. It was almost impossible. You walked out of the briefing with fire pumping through your veins. Enemies on the front. Civilians in trouble. Evacuations needed. And yet, two times out of three, your orders were to sleep. To be on call. It made sense, in an abstract manner. If the response teams deployed everyone at once, there’d be no one well rested enough to take charge of the si
  21. [author] Figured I'd post the sex scene separately in case people wanted to skip it.[/author] I would like to append to my earlier statement that making love in the warm isn’t half bad either. It’s… different, this time; frightening. His lips find mine the moment we reach his apartment. I’m pressed lightly against the wall, his hands at my waist. His frame is so much broader than mine. I feel caged. I let out a little whine, and push him back, not actually strong enough to m
  22. Thank you. Hope you're doing ok after the hospital.
  23. I get back to my hotel room around Two AM. I revert my wave-suit to its watch form, sit on my bed, and put my face in my hands. I take a long, deep breath. Then another. ‘It’s okay, Liam,’ I tell myself. ‘The job’s done. You’re fine.’ I’m back outside in under a minute. I can’t sit still. Can’t lay down. Sure as fuck can’t sleep. I just killed a man. Not my first, true enough; and almost certainly not my last. But it still happened. I fought for my life. Nearly los

  25. Thank you. I know it got frustrating for you at times, and I'm glad you stuck with it. I'm very flattered by your words.
