Touch: A survival story.

There are currently no reviews.

James Toranaga is a twelve year old boy dealing with the aftermath of sexual assault. He’s doing okay. The memories are tough, and the world feels a little rougher than it used to, but he’s a strong kid with a loving family to support him.

It sure makes his emerging sexuality harder to deal with, though. He doesn’t want to think about it.

Luckily, he has the perfect distraction: he can fly.

But these strange new powers may bring dangers of their own. He is not the only one who has them.

This is a story about the process of recovery. One thing that has always bugged me about modern fiction is that certain topics, like sexual or physical violence, are treated as cheap fodder for drama, without the author bothering to consider the subject matter, or how the characters might be affected by it. This story is my attempt to take a more honest, realized approach to such things.
While this story contains no explicit sexual content or depictions of parental violence, one character is dealing with the aftermath of a molestation that occurred prior to the story, while another is dealing with the aftermath of parental violence that occurred prior to the story. It is a novel about recovery, and addresses them as much as it has to.
