Thanks for the comments. Although there are streets in the UK that would resemble Heidgate, I can confirm it is a fictional place and does not exist anywhere as far as I know.

I know, over 15000 words this one. As a responsible Author I strongly advise frequent breaks for this story conclusion. Remember your health comes first

I love the detail and speculation you put into your comments Philippe. Adam is a straight talking lad. We'll see if he chooses a name. But the modesty in him might prevent that. And thank YOU for taking an interest in my work. It's so rewarding to have people enjoy and be involved with these characters. All my readers comments and reviews makes writing so much fun! James

Earth - Heidgate - Mid Morning Brandon was just entering the valley of the homeless that was Heidgate. The low morning sun stung his eyes as a building made way for the bright disc in the sky. He had planned to come the previous night but ended up having a rather drawn-out argument with his parents about why he seemed to be out all the time. He had explained that he was looking for Adam, to which his father responded, 'If you find him, don't bother to bring him here,' proving that still, no

Adam watched from the observation room as a small podling hovered into the hanger bay after the Tomleek had successfully blown off the main doors using its plasma rail. He had had to shield his ears as the terrifying noise and spectacle of storage tubs, ship inventory, and computer equipment was blasted out into space. Not to mention how odd it looked when two one-hundred and fifty-ton doors whizzed off into the abyss like they were made of paper. It seemed like they had either forgotten the bay

Some one liners work! I try and throw a few out sometimes Thanks Weinerdog!

Blobs of red light floated behind Adam's eyelids as he found himself in the now. His body shivered, feeling unusually cold as he began to open his eyes with a flicker. He was alive! As he came-to, he felt his right cheek was wet, so he wiped it with his hand revealing a white frothy looking substance that must have appeared from his mouth. Then, moving his arms and legs as if to check they were still connected and working, he heaved himself up onto his elbows and looked around the shat

Troy had taken me back into the workshop and through to a room off the side of the building, which had a square block table in the middle. On top was a large map with pencil markings all over it. Around the edges lay ropes and nets and an old brown faux leather sofa that had seen better days. "You look to be about the size of Billy Saunders," Troy remarked, stepping away from the table and wandering over to a line of five grey metal lockers. He proceeded to pull out the loose padlock and fl

Courage at the Boat Yard
James Matthews commented on James Matthews's story chapter in Courage at the Boat Yard
You make a good point - we'll assume it was a V6 -
Sol System | Earth | Heidgate Sage slowly opened his eyes, the smell of dampness invading his nostrils. It was an offensive smell he quickly realised was coming from the dirty brown mattress he had slept on for the night… a mattress that used to be white. He pinched the bridge of his nose as a ripe headache came into focus. "Jesus," he murmured, wincing with the pain. He looked around pulling himself up on to his elbows, before tossing the filthy flap of a sleeping bag off of his le

I shot up to the sound of my alarm, fearing for some reason I was going to be late on my first day. I was hopeless at getting out of bed but wanted to make a good impression for Jerry, seeing he had been so nice offering me a job. Leah stirred and opened her eyes. "Hey, want me to make you some breakfast?" "Nah, you go back to sleep. I'll just grab a bowl of cereal. Gonna have a shower first anyway," I whispered, switching on my lamp. It was six am and grey outside. I tossed my le

Grand Master Telstrek I think answers much of that question. Puritons by nature are a peace loving race. Terlstrek more than anyone I think wanted this tradition to carry on - He's been leader of the council for many doons now. As with followers of nuclear disarmament on Earth, Sometimes believing too much in the idea of peace leaves you wide open for plunder.

I walked into the lounge smiling, having just got back from the boatyard, eyeing the whole of my family minus Dad watching TV. "Ah, Corbin, I left you a sandwich on the side in the kitchen… how did you get on?" "Guess who's got a job?" I said, causing everyone to grin. Leah got up and threw her arms around me. "Wow! See, I knew you would." "Congratulations, dear brother, my heart sings for you." "Oh well done, Corbin, that's wonderful news," Mum added. "Yeah, I was

A tearful Adam, accompanied by Castro, stepped onto the Delshak, the ship that was to take Sage back home to Earth while on an assignment. Sage looked equally upset but tried to be strong for Adam, choosing a mature attitude to try and soften the impact that they might never see each other again. Sage stepped forward, placing Adam's head in his hands. "I'm sorry for all the bad things I did to you. I just hope you know I'm not a bad person," he said, trying hard now to fight back the tears

What Have You Done?
James Matthews commented on James Matthews's story chapter in What Have You Done?
Thank you so much, thats mean a lot -
As Zoe and I walked through the front door Mum had just opened, Dad came storming through towards us. "Where the fuck have you been?" "We had a small altercation with a motorbike and a rather handsome male specimen," Zoe answered. Dad seemed to calm. "Hmph, I thought you'd gone to catch the fish!" "No, father, that will be your job soon, and I hope it is one of immense success. As you can see, we have returned with the food you requested, and so we may now eat." I handed the

"A protest? Lord Relshek, this is… is this unheard of, it will surely fail!" "My dear Lord Kelshen, I cannot stand aside and watch those… those uncivilised marauders take Adam and do heaven knows what to him. I may not be important, but I am willing to stake my life on this. If I am condemned to die for what I believe is the right… no, the Puritan thing to do, then so be it! Besides, We both have invested so much in him." Lord Kelshen placed his hands on Relshek's shoulders and pressed

"You are one fucking stubborn bastard, you know that?" Brandon spat at Fred. "I don't see what the big deal is. It's not like I am going to keep it!" "It cannot leave this house Brandon, I'm sorry!" "You know, we both might have a chance to find out something about this useless lump of metal, hell… you might even have your crazy theory proven correct, but instead you wanna keep it locked up like some ingot of gold, and for WHAT?" Brandon Pleaded. "Boy, if it fell into the wrong ha

Gone back through my Raw files and this is how it was written. I have 2 sets and they read the same. Message me privately to discuss and I'll see if I can help James

Can you be more specific? What is it you've noticed. Many thanks Ashton

Troy's accent will be sort of revealed. But not directly. Just though how the story develops. I think I sort of addressed that curiosity I hope?

Dad's car turned left into a road that fell downwards, and I suddenly got a glimpse of the sea. Almost five hours I'd now been in this car, and my legs and back felt well and truly shot due to my tall frame. We'd stopped once for fuel, but I hadn't got out. However, the others had gone for comfort breaks and grabbed a bite to eat, so it was probably my fault for feeling like a squashed up jack in the box. Leah had got me a pasty to eat along with some salt and vinegar crisps when they returned,

Thanks for the comments Tony on both my editing and the story. I started out in 2016 and I went through a number of editors that taught me a lot. These days I use a triple lock system to edit. One is an app and the other two I have designed myself using Chrome open source tools. The problem is not the system I use, the problem is the time constraints that I have which means some things get missed or words are not familiar to an international audience. I am British but I understand most of my readers are american, which I try to cater to in my words. Example: A path in the UK is a Sidewalk in the US. Car parks in the UK are parking lots/ Lifts are Elevators. etc etc My point is my system does not always understand what word I wish to use. And then of course there is the spelling. No offence to my US cousins but you tend to over simplify the way you spell words, whereas Brits English tend to over complicate them. I am trying to bang out chapters every eight hours. Sometimes my triple lock system makes an error and I don't catch it. I now have a beta reader @MarkB who keeps me honest when the odd thing gets missed. At the end of the day I am no Dan Brown or Steven King and mistakes will happen. I only hope they do not diminish the enjoyment of the stories I pump out I really rambled there! didn't I?
