Yeah this is a lotta episodes to build up to "Will's gonna explode" and nobody's gonna be friends anymore. Also, there are no "highway embankments" between the Pink Panther and the Champlain Bridge.

So's the setting. That's pretty good that Hull is the "beige area" Ottawa's hoping people aren't gonna go to, but the Hull bar strip is pretty anglo. I guess we're building tension for a blowup. I've been in that SUV full of guys heading off to adventures I don't really wanna be on.

Ah, I googled up USA swimming and they seem to have sections that are states except Texas and California are a bunch of sections, and then 4 big "zones." I guess that doesn't overlap the HS districts totally. Big country. (I'm Canadian but went to university in the US) I'm starting to be fond of the area you've imagined for us, I'll take a look at Standing in Shadows.

So the message I'm getting here is don't trust Jenny from South Carleton. No, you don't need to know her last name, just stay away from Jenny. I was kinda hoping we could go a few more hilarious rounds of no one believing West. He may have to fuck Matt now. Hmm, saying that was strangely arousing.

Aha that's cool. That makes sense too about the district record that Jackson was happy after the meet, but didn't actually mention the record to his parents. He's cool about that kinda stuff, but some times are good enough you mention 'em. And so moving up in the US from regions there's the 59 sections and the 4 zones? (I was nowhere near as good a swimmer as your characters, I was the waterpolo player filling out the relays and doing backstroke cuz it wasn't a cool stroke for the club kids.) I like the way you're handling that, it has a nice broad appeal- could be anywhere from western New York down to Tennessee- a bit Rust-Belty and it snows, but we can plug in our own visions. Mm, I guess not a million miles from Georgia.

Hockey team took care of their own business, for once. And I buy that 7th graders were vague on how credentialled Will was when he taught them. I buy that scene from Vanguard #18. Sports have changed a lot in the last while.

Krista, I used to swim a bit so I know the feel of the races, it wasn't in the US. Can you give me a ballpark on what a district record vs a regional record look like? Like, are those multi-state blocks? or multiple regions in a state?
