A further exploration of grief and its unpredictable pathways. The narrative is sensitive and seems realistic to me - you never know when memories are going to ambush you and cause deep pain as well as underlying gratitude. Sometimes memories are far too painful, and at other times you are desperate not to forget. Another great chapter, and I look forward to where this story will go! -

I endorse completely the comments by Andy Cannon. Very sensitive writing which captures the sometimes conflicting emotions that grief brings. My long-term partner died very suddenly a few years ago, and I recognise many of the feelings described in this story. Looking forward to how it develops!

I think that Chapter 12 is erotically charged because two men in a very intimate situation (showering together) are clearly sexually attracted to each other. This is unlike the situation of communal showers where the element of sexual attraction is much less evident - though not entirely absent 🫣

Thank you for this tale of steadfast and passionate love told with great insight, historical detail and humour. After all their time apart, with only brief encounters together, it was telling that William was still shocked at the idea of going to bed with Jamie in the daytime - or was that just his quirky dry sense of humour! These two and their now quiet life of passion will remain with me.

This story is a very slow and sensitive burn ❤️🔥 I'm loving the poetic quality of the writing, the descriptions of the historic context, and the sexual tension is off the scale 😵💫

I can appreciate how Blake is attracted to Pitt's restraint, honesty and naval experience. The severity and closed nature of Pitt probably makes him even more desirable and exciting - especially as Blake has become aware of the effect he has on Pitt!

The politics on board ship are treacherous - and perhaps they extend beyond the ship too? Love the gossipy letters between the ladies. They underline the attraction of Blake's presence.
