Part I - Friendships renewed. Hi! My name is Joe. Joe Cannady. Dan has been letting me read his story before submitting it, so when he finished chapter 9 I knew what was coming. I asked him if I could help tell the next part of the story, and he suggested I just write it myself and let him proofread it. Dan left out something in the first part of this story - me. You see, for several years before the story began, it wasn't just Sam and Dan. It was Sam and Dan and Joe. We were all three

Gee, @Summerabbacat it only seems to attract the most extreme right-wing gun-totin', GLBTQI+ hatin', animal killin', paranoid anti-abortionists, why don't you tell us how you really feel? As far as I'm concerned, this cou9ntry hasn't had a decent President since Ronald Reagan. And that goes double for the brain-dead, idiot, socialist we have now. And his VP is even worse. I'm just glad I'm as old as I am, because I hope I'll be dead by the time this country falls to ruin. By the way, what does the I stand for in GLBTQI? And why do we a Q as well as a G? Aren't they the same? In my formative years, the word queer was as bad as faggot (and I HATE that word).

Part I - From whence does my help come? With tears streaming down his cheeks and on the verge of emotional collapse, Dan ran through the house and into his bedroom. Oh how he wished there was a solid door to his room instead of that damn folding rattan piece of crap, to say nothing of the window that opened onto the enclosed back porch. He just knew that his mom, dad and brother could hear him crying, but where else could he go? He had worked so hard not to break down in front of Sam.

It's difficult to describe how hard I cried when I wrote this chapter. But it needed to be said, that not all first loves last forever.
-
I cried often as I wrote this story, especially the scene when the nurse said "we took these clothes off of this boy" in Chapter 6. That was 20 tears ago, and I cried just as hard when I edited it just a few years ago. But then, I cry at the drop of a hat. Perhaps that's why my stories never have a sad ending.

Danny was me. Samuel was my best friend. Most of the rest is pure fiction. Future chapters probably reflect my own unrecognized desires. I hope you enjoy the outcome.

Chapter 1: "That Gloomy Day In March"
gdaniel commented on Comicality's story chapter in Chapter 1: "That Gloomy Day In March"
Like many others, I stared reading your stories on NIfty way back in 1995-2005, and I'm glad to be back. Have you ever heard the country song "Lord, it's hard to be humble?" I thought of that one the minute I read "Which means that I'm on my way towards greatness!" hehehe I agree with @Blue Dhalia, envy is one thing but jealousy is ugly. -
Thank you @Summerabbacat, @Story Reader, and all the others. I suppose with enough wheedling and arm twisting I might try following the boys into college. . .

You don't have much love for Republicans, do you. 😆 Too bad I are one. But then, I don't have much respect for either of our two parties. But we won't go there, huh.

I knew teenagers were reading stories like this on Nifty because some of them wrote to me. I included this chapter to help them understand that not all first loves last a lifetime. Healing takes time, but it happens.

Part I - Life Sucks! Eventually the notoriety of Dan's heroism died away. And not a day too soon, either, for Sam was getting about as tired of it as the rest of the kids in school. Nothing more was said about the boys' sexual orientation, either because of the things Randy and Kathy had said at the assembly or because Randy always seemed to be hovering about as though he were their guardian angel. Either way, the boys were thankful and continued to be careful about allowing their feelings

Thank you, Libby. A well written romance. Just warmed the cockles of my heart.

In the 50's our YMCA was clothing optional. I'm surprised yours was "nudity required."

Part I - Love begets love About 9:00 the boys got off the couch and announced they were going to take their showers and get ready for bed. "Since we don't have school tomorrow and don't have to get up early, can we sleep in the basement?" Sam asked. "Sure," his mom answered. "You guys sleep as late as you want. Just holler up the stairs when you're ready for me to start breakfast." Dan followed Sam to the bathroom, eager to see his boyfriend naked. "How about taking a ba

Sorry @VBlew and @Mancunian. My previous comment was also directed to you. Sorry if I left any other impression. I am looking forward to everyone's reactions to my story, The Root Beer Boys, which probably will not post until after I finish posting "What Is True Love Anyway?"

better @drsawzall? more eloquently @Summerabbacat? Your honest and heart-felt comments mean so much to me. Thank you everyone.

Another wonderful chapter. I do love how this lady writes. I can't help but wonder if it's difficult today for a man Marc's age to come out, especially if he has the support of a Sawyer. Is it easier in Europe and Australia than it is in America?

Chapter Six Part I - How much do you love me? When it came time to audition for the 8th and 9th grade Christmas play, the boys decided not to try out for any of the singing parts. It was a different play than last year, but they felt they might have an unfair advantage based on comments they were still hearing about that one. They went to the choral director in private and explained their position. At first she tried to talk them out of it, but the more they talked the more she realize

December was... well, it was December. The guys had semester finals and their normal wrestling routine. There were several parties for everyone to attend. And Jason and the band were asked to perform for a community- wide party hosted by several of the Lutheran churches. The songs Mitchell had written with Scott's help turned out to be big hits. Scott had been right. They had made a big impact on Jason and Alex, and I think that impact showed in the emotion Jason put into them. Even the band see

Not "great" grandchildren. My granddaughter is not ready YET. Just two wonderful grandkids.

Confused and envious. I find myself wishing I had had such a relationship in high school but happy that I have lived a heterosexual life with wife, dughter and to great grandkids. Perhaps I should add conflicted.

How is conjugation anything other than 'mutual'? hehehe
